Skip Schumaker led-off the game for the Los Angeles Dodgers and lined Colorado Rockies’ right-hander Tyler Chatwood’s (5-3, 2.56) first pitch to the right of center-fielder Dexter Fowler. The hit eluded a diving Fowler and rolled for a double. Adrian Gonzalez pulled a ground-ball to the right-side to move Schumaker to 3rd-base, and he scored when Hanley Ramirez grounded to short. The run held-up as the Dodgers’ Zach Greinke (8-2, 3.49) pitched a complete game shut-out and the Dodgers defeated Colorado 1-0 Saturday night at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Veteran Todd Helton was the hitting star for the Rockies, singling with one out in the 5th, and working Greinke for a lead-off walk in the 8th. Josh Rutledge pinch-ran and stole 2nd, but was stranded when Greinke got Nolan Arenado to ground to 3rd, struck-out Yorvit Torrealba, and Jonny Herrera grounded to Gonzalez. The right-hander recorded 14 ground-ball outs and struck-out 9 Colorado hitters.
Chatwood matched Greinke’s performance with a near flawless one of his own. In addition to the double by Schumaker, he gave-up singles to Ramirez in the 4th and Greinke in the 5th. AJ Ellis doubled with one out in the 7th. Chatwood walked 2 and struck-out 4.
The NL West Division rivals wrap up the first half of the season with a 2:10 pm MDT contest at Chavez Ravine Sunday afternoon. Rockies’ righty Jhoulys Chacin will face freshly acquired Ricky Nolasco of the Dodgers.
