Mismatch Game 2 at Nationals Park

The Rockies has possibly the biggest mismatch of starting pitchers in baseball history.  Quote from Agbayani:  “Strasburg vs. Friedrich? It could be that’s there’s a bigger starting pitching matchup at some time during history of baseball, but right now I can’t think of one. There’s a trivia question somewhere in there, something like “What’s the biggest difference in career ERA between two starting pitchers who’ve made a minimum of 18 starts (that’s what Friedrich has) each?” Friedrich 6.37, Strasburg 3.11″.  So it will be miserable or fun to watch the Rockies play tonight depending on if you set the bar low or high.

If it is that bad, today is a good day to watch some futbol on tv and cheer for USA in its match against Belgium.  Tulo is taking the day off today in what looks like a Sunday lineup.  Drew Stubbs is being given his first shot at being a cleanup hitter.  Even Nazty is joining Tulo on the bench.  Strasburg is a right hander so it seems odd to bench a lefty hitter.

And now Chacin is on the DL for Suckiness, General/Undiagnosed. So the luckiest pitcher on the face of the earth, Frankie Morales, backs right into our all-lefty Southpaws Of Doom rotation.

The Denver Pot has been reading us again. New beat writer Nick Groke just happens to cite the same career ERA numbers for Friedrich and Strasburg … Fine to borrow from us, but how about a little hat tip in our direction?
