Seven home runs, as on Tuesday, makes for a lotta hootin’ and hollerin’ but as someone said, it might not set up the best performances to follow. It’s a theory anyway. The Reds and Rockies finish their 4-game series tonight, with the numbers from the Reds’ starter Alfredo Simon giving some encouragement: 1-5, 9.60. Eddie Butler has another chance to be good. He won’t be Bumgarner, who struck out 11 and hit a bomb today, or Greinke, who is heating up and also fanned 11. Beware the rivals in the western division (or do I only wish we had rivals? You have to be good to have rivals. Right?) You had to figure the Diamondbacks would wake up to some degree. The Rockies could really use this one before heading to Southern California for six games.

Haahaaaahaaa! Yep. Dis-GUST-ing. I bailed as the disgustingness built, so I didn’t even suffer the full brunt.
It’s June and I think my questions are mostly answered. They can’t beat a 4-19 road team at home? Apparently I did get the part about the Padres finishing ahead of the Rockies wrong though. Probably way wrong.

According to Heyman – the Yanks wanted to the Rox to pick up 22M of salary (that would have been about 50% of what Reyes was owed at the time) and we would have gotten Jorge Mateo ( a consensus top 50 Prospect (currently a… Read more »
There were stories that right after the trade last year the Yankees made the Rockies an offer for Reyes and the Rockies turned it down. No details of the proposed offer were revealed at the time. I don’t have any problem believing that the Yankees did make an offer and that the Rockies did turn it down and did have regrets later but that sound like it was too good an offer to refuse.
