Is Cargo on the DL or not? BTW, and related to my question, I hate the new Denver Post website. It was much easier before to land your eye on what you were looking for.

Game is over, folks. Mets scored first.

I’m just so beside myself watching Rockies get beaten up by the mets AA lineup. Even superstars can’t hit a pitcher I’ve never heard of.

RMH, the depressing thing is watching these other crappy teams (Marlins, Mets, etc.) play us and you can see how their fans can have some hope for the future. We saw those young Marlins pitchers beat us. Now with the Mets we see this Mejia kid (far from their best young pitcher) slicing through our lineup with Matt Harvey to follow tomorrow. They’re still weak teams but the young pieces are falling into place. They have something called a plan… Read more »

Ag. I just watched the replay of EY scoring again. And you are right Helton did hesitate. That one second when he was thinking about retirement was all EY needed. The ex-Rockies beat the current Rockies. At least 5 on the Mets, Hawkins, Torres, Omar Q, Andrew Brown and EY, Jr. Along with Tom Goodwin their 1B coach and even David Aardsma who went to Cherry Creek.

Helton daydreaming about retirement … I think you got it Bill! If he’d looked home and fired a strike to Rosario we’d be talking about the heady veteran showing his savvy again. Or maybe we’d be talking about how Rosario flinched and dropped the throw. And one of the comments I just saw on Renck’s game summary makes another great point: somehow Weiss still had Yorvit in the bullpen even though he was the last position player available and they’d… Read more »

Idiots. Putting Lopez the loser into a tie game in the eighth. Idiots.

My game chat with this thought didn’t show up so here are my two cents…

Hey Ag. As you probably know I’m not a Todd Helton fan (or haven’t been in years) but I think that play was more of the 2nd baseman’s fault. He had no play at first, Todd’s a left-hander and has to turn all the way around. DJ should either have held the ball or thrown it to home.

Bill, I see your point, and maybe Helton couldn’t have made the play at home anyway, but it seems to have totally taken him by surprise that EY would try to score from 2B on a ball that didn’t get through the infield. And it shouldn’t have since EY in his interview with Cavnar said he was running hard all the way since there were 2 outs. If Helton scoops that and comes up aware that EY may be trying… Read more »

As much as we all ragged on JT’s micro managing last year at least he MANAGED!We all have given WW a pass that in my opinion has been way too generous.Ag,Bill and others have pointed to numerous-“what’s the manager smoking” moments.I believe Weiss has been “the anti-manager”and it has cost us games as well as confidence in his decisions. His bull-pen management has been horrible, altough he hasn’t had a lot to work with.Maybe he was hired to be DOD’s sacrificial lamb… Read more »

I’m here Gary, just been a reader lately not a poster. Boy it would be weird to see someone on the Rockies play with fire like EYJ did last night and has since his time with the Mets. I think you look at the leaders on the Rox (Weiss, Helton, Tulo) and you have 3 even keeled dudes (which is ok) but it makes it no fun to watch a team full of melo losers. I’m not crazy about this… Read more »

Pooter, it’s almost enough to make me watch pre-season football. Almost. We had last night’s Helton brainfart, but don’t forget the botched rundown in Pittsburgh where Yorvit thought he’d get the out by running the baserunner back to the (unoccupied) third base. These are mental mistakes by two of our veteran leaders now compounding the failure to execute of some of our young players (example: Dickerson unable to get a bunt down to move Fowler over last night, ultimately striking… Read more »

Just checked the Video highlights for the game on MLB.com. In the one titled “Young’s hustle nest go-ahead run” from the Met’s broadcast analyst Ron Darling states “The problem was not with LeMahieu, but Helton wasn’t ready in case there was a safe call to throw the ball to home”.

“Does anyone around here know how to play this game?” I’d like to add Fowler to the mix of bone-heads. If he’d been playing the game the right way, he’d have gotten in position behind that fly ball and been in good throwing position. EY saw the lackadaisical catch and took off. If Dex had been playing all out, EY would never have been at second base. It’s not even about confidence anymore, it’s about giving a hoot. No pride,… Read more »

For what its worth…and someone’s probably posted this already…but I’ve been thinking lately (and drinking more frequently) that we just need to blow this whole thing up…NOBODY (player-wise) is safe…..get some returns (prospects) on our “big names” and just hit reset (I would assume in the off season since the trade deadline is over). I’m no GM and could never be, but I find myself pinning hope on Cargo/Tulo/Cuddy (our “big names) carrying this team and its just not going… Read more »

We can talk about the players all day long, but until the decision makers start making some reasonable decisions everything will stay the same.

There’s this huge misconception around the media and fans that managers and coaches don’t do anything in baseball or matter much. I beg to differ. They can’t win you a bunch of games if you don’t have talent but they sure as hell can lose you games even if you do. Lopez in a close game? Bad managing. Teaching Fowler to be overly aggressive to the point that he’s been picked off several times this season. Bad coaching. Not having… Read more »

I think Cuddy is a leader, but lately even he looks mired in the quicksand that has overtaken the whole organization. And Prog, who is “coasting?” If you mean the players, that implies that they don’t care, and I beg to differ. This has got to be killing them, no matter whose fault.

I think Dex, Rosario, Helton, Tulo and Cargo are all coasting towards the finish line. I think that plays out in the difference between their ability to hit in low leverage situations vs their inability to hit in higher ones.

I don’t think they’re overly concerned about the worsening record at all.

Hi guys!

I am sorry to say I am just dying now for the Broncos, Avs, and even the Nuggets games to start. I am still watching the Rocks however, I always seem to be doing something else at the same time even if it is just ranting on how stupid Jeff sounds and dear old Drew backs him up. I agree with just about all the comments about this season/team that everyone has submitted. Just so sad.

My son-in-law, who is a Mets Fan, texted me after EY scored that the Rockies seem to be playing indifferent. I think that’s too kind but I get the point. They really don’t seem to care and are barely going through the motions.

By the way they put Cargo in the DL and brought up…. are you ready? Jeff Francis. Are you kidding me. What the hell is going on?

Bill, as slow as they are to bring talent up who’s there? Evidently they don’t think much of Nady which means he might be an All-Star:-(
