Just some quick notes today…
BETTY GETS CLOCKED: Rafael Betancourt took one off the jaw today in a come-backer. He suffered a contusion on the right side of his jaw and, thankfully, displayed no concussion symptoms.
KC GETS ROCKED: Nolan went deep…twice…against the Royals today. His second long ball came in the second inning, otherwise known as the “seven run inning” on the day. Rox won it 13-2.
KENDRICK GETS STOCKED: The team announced that Kyle Kendrick will be the Rox opening day pitcher. He will take the mound on April 6th agains the Brewers. De La Rosa has been given the tip to start the home opener against the Cubs on the 10th.
in other notes: Cuddy hit his third home run today (man, i’m gonna miss that guy)
You won’t miss Money when you see him on DL for a couple of months. Don’t forget that he gives up runs with his OF defense. Both happening while he’s paid $15M to hurt the team.
Any of you guys do the doubleheader today, Rox in the afternoon and Avs in the evening? Great day if you did!
Didn’t see Rox obviously, but watched the Avs in hopes of doing what the ’07 Rockies did. 🙂
Just two weeks until the final roster gets set! My predictions: McKenry & Barnes won’t go north. Kendrick, Matzek, Lyles, JDLR, Bergman/Butler Chacin, Clobberson, maybe Descalso, maybe Betty on DL Hawkins, Zero, Brothers, Axford, Logan, Kahnle or Betty, and Friedrich in bullpen. 25th man – 8th pen arm (Brooks Brown?), Ynoa, or Paulsen Jon Gray & Eddie Butler brings the future to the present first week of May! Adames up when an infielder goes down, but it won’t happen according… Read more »
There will be no major injuries this year…if and only if the first batter in the first game does not hit a foul pop-up down past third base.
Since McKenry is out of options, if he isn’t on the 25 man roster he won’t be a Rockie. They will not be able to pass McKenry through waivers to be able to stash him in the minor leagues. Friedrich is also in the same situation but I don’t think he is currently in any danger of being DFAed.
True, but being DFA’ed might be a good thing. If more than two teams want McKenry, then the team that want him the most badly will make a trade of serviceable pieces to get McKenry. That’s my theory. You can make a trade during DFA time period.
Sorry it doesn’t work that way. My understanding is that the teams in the same league have first shot at the player based on the order that they finished in the previous season and then it goes to the other league following the same order. If more than one team makes a waiver claim it is awarded to the team with the worst record based on the NL vs AL preferences. It has often been the practice of certain teams… Read more »
This is a must read article from Purple Row before you laugh at the Rox organization for starting Kendrick on OD.

Not looking good for JDLR.
