Didn’t mean to start a whole new discussion, but not sure where to put this. I just read on another sports site the the MLB blackout rules (for the most part) will be gone next season, including the horrible Fox Saturday blackouts!
Sorry if I’m late to the party with this info, I just hadn’t seen it. Not sure how it will effect (or is is ‘affect’-I can never remember) the MLB.TV that many of us subscribe to, but I know we have all had many discussions about getting different feeds of the game, etc..
Now if they can fix the NFL blackouts, but that’s another story….
Man, if I can get Rockies games on MLB.tv that would really put me over the edge in cancelling DirectTV.
It will make my dad happy. It is freakin unbelievable where he lives. He really gets screwed because they allege he is in the Giants, Dodgers, A’s, and Angels market. They recently blacked out the Dodgers when they were in Baltimore!!! And he is paying $199 for extra innings!
Taken from awfulannouncing.com. I missed the quick line about MLB.TV in home markets-just local feed it looks like? JD, hope you don’t mind me posting this from another site, couldn’t remember the policy, or if there is one….feel free to delete if so… ———————————————- “But as we all should know by now, the blackout rage is coming to an end once the 2014 season starts. The ESPN Monday and Wednesday blackouts will be gone, and you can watch the national… Read more »
TJ, I love that you posted this…I really want more posts in the “Sound Off” section from you guys about relevant topics like this…
I personally want the blackout’s to end! I want to be able to watch using MLBtv anywhere, no matter what…
I’m feeling stuck with DirecTV cuz that’s only way to get sports especially rockies.
I subscribe to the Direct TV baseball package and I like it. But I wish I could get the other team’s announcers sometimes instead of Root. Last night when George, Drew and (yes you too) Marc were clowning around I was just hitting the mute button. I tried to go to the Tampa Bay feed but couldn’t get it. By the way although I’m really teed off at the Rockies announcers on Root I’m pretty sure that the only reason… Read more »
Not sure I want to post this in fear of jinxing myself, but here goes. I live in Castle Rock, CO and am able to watch all of the Rockies games using my MLB.tv account on my PlayStation with the MLB.tv app/option – with Comcast cable as the pipe. No blackouts, no restrictions found as of yet. I am assuming it’s something to do with the PlayStation Network, but it never does the location verification and I’ve been able to… Read more »
Stace, you’ve found the Holy Grail of MLB.tv…I assume you are right, about the combination of PlayStation Network with MLB.tv. Over the past couple of years when I’ve used my iPhone for the games, I would just reload the page over and over for the game and it would take a few times (no more than 10) and it would let me through…play ball and all of that…I believe it was the MLB.tv app trying to find my IP address… Read more »
