The Colorado Rockies have signed Bobby Cassevah, according to MLBTR. After the Angels outrighted him he chose free agency and was picked up by Colorado and is expected to join the team Sunday. He posted a 6.22 ERA, 5.4 K/9, 3.7 BB/9, and 0.58 HR/9 in 46 1/3 relief innings with the Angels minor league system last season, where he was ranked 24th in their system.
Breaking from some of the poor decisions the Rockies have made in the past, picking up Cassevah who, “may be the most extreme ground-ball pitcher in the minors“, according to Baseball America in 2011, is a step in the right direction. He has a 65.9% career ground-ball rate in the minors, which is a definite bonus for Coors.
what? the team picked up a groundball pitcher??? is it April 1st?
Watch out for Jayson Aquino. He’s on my radar.
his ERA and BB/9 look pretty sucky!
