Bring Back Retro Dex Please!

Our esteemed blog master Jaredeen touched on this Dexter issue a couple days back, but I wanted to research some numbers to get a general sense of what my eyes had been telling me about the 2012 Dexter Fowler.

Typical Dex = .266 BA; .363 OBP; .432 SLG; .796 OPS that results in about 85 Runs; 6 HRS; 45 RBI; 20 SB and a 25.9% K%.

2012 Dex (Yr) = .242 BA; .336 OBP; .455 SLG and .769 OPS that should result in 85 Runs; 20 HRS; 80 RBI; 10 SB and a 28.3% K%.

Now I will admit that J Tracy will tell you that the “2012” Dex is better than “Retro” Dex, but for me it is quite the opposite. What the Rockies really need from Dex is high BA, OBP and a lot of stolen bases, so please give me back the old Dex – the one that was content to put the ball in play instead of swinging for the fences with every at bat.

I will confess here that I love Dex, however I love Retro Dex a lot more!
Now I doubt that all these Dex changes, bulking up, etc have been the result of Dex deciding that he should be a home run threat as well as that he should really take it a lillte bit easier on the base paths. And this is just a guess but this new approach has come directly from the Rockies manager and that three run homer mentality of his.

The Rockies need to trade Dexter Fowler asap while they might be able to get something on his potential……..dexter is what ia call a TWEENER …..to good for the minors and offensively not good enough for the majors…..1st to 3rd one of the best on the league and also defensively solid but offensive not a clutch players besides a player with his speed should be able to somewhat steal at will BUT more than question dextger i question the Rockies… Read more »

I like Dex okay, but I would drink my share of ballpark beer to pay for an Andrew McCutchen or Curtis Granderson.

Since the day I first saw McCutchen play I thought “Now there is a guy to re-build this franchise around.” I used to hate the Pirates with a passion, but they have been so bad for so long I now feel sorry for the franchise and wish them the best, especially with Hurdle and Barmes on board. So, Miketober, I definitely agree with you.
