Bring It Home Boys…Astros in the House

The Rockies will take on the Astros tonight in the first of five at home.  The team just played Houston, splitting the two-game series, and looks to make a statement at Coors they couldn’t make Minute Maid Park – that they didn’t forget what it was like to get hits with runners on the base paths.

To sum up a dismal road trip, you only have to look at the following sentence: Zero runs with bases loaded an no outs.

There were multiple times the Rockies enjoyed loading up the bases with three chances to bring someone home.  Yet the consistency of missing out on such an opportunity was annoying, to say the least.

One of the players failing in their hitting duties, Charlie Blackmon, will have a chance at a refresher course after he was optioned to AAA to make room for Scahill in the pen.  While Blackmon has been in 12 games since his call-up on the 12th, he has been floundering his way to a .240 | .269 | .360 line in 27 plate appearances.  The hardest part is that he only has two RBI’s on six hits.

Rockies must be back in town. Rainy out. At least it’s not snow.

Sorry to see Blackmon being sent down but he wasn’t being used very often. Frankly I’d like to see Colvin up here instead of EY or Charlie.

One of DoD’s “ideas” during the winter was to add another pitcher during long home stands. Maybe that’s why the move was made. Middle relievers were a little shaky on the road trip.

I’ve had tickets for 3 games this year:

1)cold as hell vs Mets where Pacheco gets the gamewinner-too cold, stayed home (free tix).

2)vs Yankees, gamed delayed 2 hours.

3)tonights. I plan on sticking this one out.

So much for the AAA aces making an offensive impact, as witnessed earlier today by Blackmon’s demotion. At this point you’ve got to wonder if he’s going to get another shot. Arenado now looks completely lost at the plate, pretty much swinging at anything thrown. LeMahieu’s dropped a hundred points in the last four games. Pacheco has gone cold as stone. And what the heck has happened to Dex? The youngsters don’t seem to have any kind of plate discipline.… Read more »
