Bullpen Again Hand Opponent a Win

Tyler Matzek pitched well and kept the Colorado Rockies in the game.  The Rockies scored three runs in the second inning on a Tulo single, Corey Dickerson single, and a three run shot by Mike McKenry.  Tyler Matzek pitched into the seventh inning giving way to Matt Belisle with one out in the seventh inning.  Belisle promptly served another ball down broadway to Ian Desmond for the go-ahead home run which stood as a 4-3 final.  Matzek gave up all three runs in the fourth inning on a two-run homer by Jason Werth and a couple of fluke hits.  Matzek issue just one free pass in his 6.1 inning stint.

The front office made a trade with the Cincinnati Reds obtaining Jair Jurrjens who is all banged up trying to revive his career.  AA first baseman Harold Riggins from Tulsa was sent to the Reds.

I’ve watched almost every game for 22 years. I’ve seen it all, and it’s been more down than up overall, but I usually enjoyed the Rockies nonetheless. I have never been more disgusted and frankly, never near this close to bailing. I’ve been sticking with watching – on fast-forward – for awhile but I’m almost out. Sad, sorry, sick of it, and completely baffled too. Yup, injuries are a big reason – not excuse! A reason! – but luckily for… Read more »

I almost share your view Roxnsox with the exception of wishing Tulo goes to the Yankees instead. Actually really don’t want Tulo to go at all but I’ve been a Yankee fan for 65 years and they are still my second favorite team. Frankly the Yankees farm system is void of a depth of prospects so there shouldn’t be a deal there. However we all know Danny boy and his boss Montfart think they are smarter than everybody else so… Read more »

Roxnsox, I agree with pretty much all you said. And Bill, correct about the Yankees not having much to offer … but there’s always the chance for a 3-team deal with us getting some other club’s top prospects. The Cards always disavow interest … but it makes too much sense not to be under serious consideration. They’ve got the prospects, we’ve got the key to another World Series. Belisle: guy seems kind of immune to criticism. Really, he’s sucked as… Read more »

Sorry Bill, nothing personal of course. The Red Sox are my 1a, after all – LOL. I know the Yanks are his likely destination if (“when,” seems more like to me) he is approached and/or begs to go, and a multi-team deal might do it. Hope not. I NEVER want to see him go, but honestly I feel terrible for Tulo himself that he is being wasted here. If the Cards get him that would make me almost as sick.… Read more »

Now if we could also trade Danny Boy I would be for that. I know managers have been traded occasionally, so why not GM’s. And didn’t the owners of LA Rams and (maybe) the Baltimore Colts trade franchises a long time ago. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could trade the Monfart Brothers. By the time the Rockies get to use Hawkins in a save situation again he’ll be so rusty he’ll blow the save. I know Arenado is coming… Read more »

If the Rox were a democracy, and the RWO crew the party in power, we’d have ’em straightened out and heading for the good life right quick! 🙂
