Can Colorado Solve Steven Wright?

There was nothing to see in yesterday’s game as JDLR gave up seven runs in 3.1 innings.  If there was anything to see, it was Eddie Butler who was pulled from the rotation to do a long relief stint.  He pitched 2.2 innings of one-hit ball and no runs allowed on only 33 pitches.

Today the fastest pitcher on Colorado’s staff (Chettis) goes against Steven Wright.  Rockies has a bad history against soft and softer tossing pitchers.  Wright maxes out at only 85 MPH.  In the first two innings, the batters didn’t know what to do with his knuckleballs and took passive underwater swings.  They may need a lot of help from some passed balls to score runs.

The game started at 5:10 MDT and the score is 1-0 in favor of the good guys after two innings.  CarGo had a ground ball single and advanced twice on passed balls before scoring on Mark Reynolds’ swinging bunt just past the pitcher’s mound.

Ugh. True colors, i.e., not good enough. (Isn’t this around the traditional time for the slide into oblivion?)

The Red Sox are the “perfect” team to expose the Rockies pitching. Ed the Ump challenged us to the predict the road trip record. I went 4-5 but stated I was on the fence between history (disaster east coast road trip) and trend (better team – maybe competitive). I should have given history more respect. In the big scheme of things, I’m not sure this is bad, There’s still much, much work to do in this rebuild, and it’s just… Read more »

Bridich Quote regarding JDLR: “It’s now two months of struggle, whether it’s been up here or in the down in the minors for rehabilitation. He’s had one good game, right? One good game that you could say is representative of what we know about Jorge De La Rosa. That’s just not good enough right now. … We have other guys who have earned the right to give us a chance to win every fifth day. Our goal right now is… Read more »

I’m not one for excuses – but the Rox didn’t get any favors from the schedule makers on this trip. 9 consecutive against Cards/Pirates/ and Red Sox and today’s game is not a “get away” game. They won’t be leaving Boston until midnight???? Meanwhile, the Giants have today off and will probably be taking BP in Coors this afternoon.

Good points from both of you guys. I’ll be patient and observe 🙂 I think that was their last long road trip?

Tyler Anderson to ABQ.

Josh Fuentes to Modesto.

Brendon Rodgers activated from DL.

Take a look at ABQ’s starting rotation (keeping in mind Musgrave was recently promoted there and has bounced back nicely after a rough first start). It “almost” seems that Lyles will be in the Pen even in ABQ (pending another move of course). I see this as a good thing – I think.
