The Rockies have a new commercial this season that pokes fun at the process of choosing a walk-up song. We see each player hand over their choice of a song beginning with Herrera saying he would “send” his song over, to Pacheco giving up a CD and finally Cuddyer handing over a cassette tape with his choice. It is an entertaining poke at the age of each player in relation to how they present their walk-up song, but it got me thinking about the songs each of them choose and how it relates to their personality.
There was much made about Tulo’s walk-up song choice over the past few years. In the past he’s chosen very “popular” songs, like Party in the USA to Baby to Fireworks. He even held a contest to choose his song. Steeped in Rockies folklore is the story of the “birth” of Tulo’s choice of walk-up song. Apparently one of the players changed his music during one of his games, and Tulo decided that instead of acting like he was the target of a prank, he would pretend it was his idea to have the song for his fans that were kids.
This season Tulo quietly chose one that is probably closer to his taste in music. Here is a list of the walk-up songs for many on the 25 man…
