NL team captain David Wright named his three sluggers for the Home Run Derby and surprisingly 2/3 of them were Rockies. Carlos Gonzalez and Michael Cuddyer have been asked to participate in the Home Run Derby, along with Bryce Harper.
They will go up against the AL team, which so far consist of team captain Robinson Cano as well as Chris Davis and Price Fielder. Cano said he is reserving the last spot until he hears back from his final choice.
wow! i never would have guessed both would make the derby. I know this season is really starting to go downhill, wheels coming off and all, but i still get giddy when my guys have a prominent position during All Star Week. I’m guessing Goldschmidt, Alvarez and perhaps o†hers turned it down before Cuddyer was asked.
Cuddy and D. Wright[Mets- team selector] are childhood buddies.Wright said since Cuddyer was chosen as an all-star it was a no brainer.My guess is this will ruin both their swings for the rest of the year-i.e.the homerun derby “curse”.
I mean really? The homerun derby is just way too overrated. Haven’t watched one in years. Way too contrived for me to care. MLB can thank ESPN for the hype of this batting practice fiasco.
