CarGo Back in Lineup vs Padres for Rubber Match

If the MLB reporting Thomas Harding’s tweet is to be believed, it was Cargo’s decision to be included in tonight’s lineup.  Apparently CarGo was “expecting to take BP today and play tomorrow, but he’s decided to play tonight vs. Padres.

One would assume that the players have some say on if they play or not, but it would be up to the manager to make the final decision.  This points to Cargo making the final decision on if he will play or not.

There is no doubt the team needs him!

For a team built on hitting, the Rockies sure have had a difficult time of it lately.  Getting swept in Arizona and then only producing a single run last night against he Padres, the Rockies faithful have taken to the streets in protest.  Ok, maybe not the streets, but for sure the RWO comment’s board:

Probably won’t watch a Rockies game the rest of the year.   egosage

It’s brutally difficult to watch for sure.  sabrchip

ZERO RUNS will not win any ball games.  -gary

Obviously the team is missing some of the serious firepower that made them so potent at the beginning of the season: Tulo and Fowler have both been out of the rotation over the past few weeks, with Cargo sitting out several games with finger issues.  Tonight will see Cargo back in the lineup and the other two could possibly be back with the team come Thursday’s game against the Dodgers.

• LHP Jorge De La Rosa will look to clinch the series win for the Rockies in his 19th start of the season.  He’s 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA (11.0 ip, 4 er) in his 2 starts against the Padres this year.

• RHP Andrew Cashner will toe the rubber for the Friars in his 20th game/15th start of the season.  Earlier this season he started against the Rockies and 7.0 innings and allowed 3 runs but didn’t receive a decision.

A story on Foxsports.com says 6 teams may be interested in Cuddyer: Pirates, Reds, Yankees, Rangers, Rays and Giants but Rockies still view him as next year’s first baseman.

What is it that no starter can consistently go a mere six innings?

And whatever happened to that guy Charlie Blackmon, who looked so promising a couple of seasons ago. Anybody know where he went?

Rocks have a small chance of getting back in and winning back fans by winning the Dodgers series. It will take Pom figuring out how to pitch, Blackmon how to continue to hit, and somebody beside Pacheco (Cuddyer) spelling Helton for 2 of 3 games each series. We’ll see.

DRH, I’ve got the guy for you to spell Helton at 1B the next two games against LHP. He’s currently at or close to hitting .300. But it will require WW thinking outside the box a bit. His name is Yorvit. He’s already played 1B for the Rox this season, and he’s played it extensively during winter ball. What do they have to lose? They’ve gotten back into this race a bit at only 3 1/2 games back, and they’re… Read more »

Tulo, what is 1 day going to do for you? Demand to play tonight!!

Looks like they already sent Dickerson down and Fowler’s back off the DL. Tulo can “demand” all he wants but he can’t play until they pull him off the DL which I hope they do. Would like to see them call up Nady and send Colvin back down to minors. He looked good for 3 days and then started trying to look “cool” out there instead of busting his tail. Rockies need to tighten up the D. Arenado had an… Read more »

I haven’t been paying too close attention the last few days, but wasn’t Dickerson playing well? Is his going to CS due to poor play or “somebody has to go down to make room”?

Thanks for the info. I don’t feel good about tonight, but at least we get Vin Scully on MLB.TV

Dave and Dave on KOA said that Tulo will be starting tonight although ColoradoRockies.com hasn’t said anything about it. They also said that Ruteledge is batting 2nd. If that’s so, who did they send down? I know Dickerson but did they also send Colvin down as well?
