If the MLB reporting Thomas Harding’s tweet is to be believed, it was Cargo’s decision to be included in tonight’s lineup. Apparently CarGo was “expecting to take BP today and play tomorrow, but he’s decided to play tonight vs. Padres.”
One would assume that the players have some say on if they play or not, but it would be up to the manager to make the final decision. This points to Cargo making the final decision on if he will play or not.
There is no doubt the team needs him!
For a team built on hitting, the Rockies sure have had a difficult time of it lately. Getting swept in Arizona and then only producing a single run last night against he Padres, the Rockies faithful have taken to the streets in protest. Ok, maybe not the streets, but for sure the RWO comment’s board:
Probably won’t watch a Rockies game the rest of the year. – egosage
It’s brutally difficult to watch for sure. – sabrchip
ZERO RUNS will not win any ball games. -gary
Obviously the team is missing some of the serious firepower that made them so potent at the beginning of the season: Tulo and Fowler have both been out of the rotation over the past few weeks, with Cargo sitting out several games with finger issues. Tonight will see Cargo back in the lineup and the other two could possibly be back with the team come Thursday’s game against the Dodgers.
• LHP Jorge De La Rosa will look to clinch the series win for the Rockies in his 19th start of the season. He’s 1-0 with a 3.27 ERA (11.0 ip, 4 er) in his 2 starts against the Padres this year.
• RHP Andrew Cashner will toe the rubber for the Friars in his 20th game/15th start of the season. Earlier this season he started against the Rockies and 7.0 innings and allowed 3 runs but didn’t receive a decision.
