Right-hander Casey Weathers was outrighted before being sent down to Tripple A, the team announced today. Weathers, who was acquired by the Cubs with Ian Stewart in December, has struggled in his first two Spring Training outings – giving up two runs on a hit and three walks.
Casey Weathers Outrighted, Sent Down

On the other side of the coin, there is a nice article on Chris Ianetta over on the MLB,com web under the Angels’ news. He seems to be doing well there as I had predicted due to the fact that he gets to work with John Sciosca. The pitching staff is falling in love with him as a receiver.
Chris is a good field general and gets on well with just about all the pitchers. On the other hand if you need to have him get a hit, expecially at a critical juncture of the game you will be disappointed all too often.
Saw him get an excellent double yesterday, he was swinging pretty well – like i felt he should have here instead of looking for a walk…i’ve always loved chris “coppertop” iannetta, but he isn’t “hungry” enough for what we need…we did get an upgrade in an arm, that is for darn sure – hernandez has a gun!
