Rally killer with the aggressive base-running…
De La Rosa getting hit pretty hard so far…HR last inning and now a double to Castro…
I don’t know if you can say he’s getting hit hard; two hits(both XBHs) in two innings sandwiched around a walk. I say you get hit hard if you are parading the batters to the plate.
sorry, by “hard” i meant to hard hits in 4 batters – one over the fence and one on the warning track…he wasn’t getting hit “hard” as in often though 😉
Wow, Colvin got picked off…that is two innings now that ended in a “hot box” type of situation…good to see them being agressive, just hope they get a handle on best time to go…
Brothers just gave up a long ball…
According to the box score, Brothers tossed a perfect inning with a K and it was Escalona that gave up the long ball.
DJ LeMahieu triple followed by Tim Wheeler’s sac fly in the 8th. 3-2 Cubs over Rox going to bottom of 8th.
Rox lose 4-2; Octavino walked three guys after a single to force in a run bottom of 8th.
They won on the Stewart trade, but the Smith trade was a huge wiff.
Don’t give up on Outman just yet. We may get something out of him this year. He’s going to fill the spot vacated by Matt Reynolds.
Doh. Sorry. I was getting Ottavino and Outman mixed up. Thanks for the correction.
Agree – Outman is intriguing.
That trade is different from the Stewart trade in that – indirectly – it also “caused” the Rox to go out and spend 30M on Cuddyer. So if we don’t make the trade, we still have Smith and 30M to spend on something else. That’s why I question that deal.
I wonder if it would be worth the Rox’s consideration of picking up Jim Thome since he’s available. Of course, he would most likely assume Jason Giambi’s role of last year. Since the starting pitching is still an unsettled issue, perhaps striving for the previously discussed return to a Blake Street Bombers approach to overwhelm opposition pitching is the way to go. If our starters come through too, then it would be icing on the cake.
Never really understood why the Rockies need a DH since they play in the NL?
