The MRI results on Jhoulys Chacín’s MRI came in and Patrick Saunders tweeted the results:
Word on #Rockies Chacin is right shoulder inflammation, shut down at least a week, probably longer. Rox calling it a shoulder strain. Chacin seem(s) pretty upbeat.
While this is good news, any sort of issue with a pitchers shoulder (especially pre-season) isn’t a great sign.
That is the best case results for sure…can handle a couple weeks, as long as it isn’t something worse that will show with more strain…
“Best case.” “Thank goodness it’s early.” The word “surgery” not mentioned. There’s time to be cautious and well they should, even if there wasn’t.
This is me attempting to hang on to the bright side….gulp….
This means the battle for 5th starter will continue a couple of weeks into the regular season – at least.
On an completely unrelated note – if I recall correctly, the Rox play the ChiSox in the opening homestand (2nd week of the season). I’m sort of excited to see them.
You are correct…the ChiSox are the 3rd series of the season (2nd during first home stand)…i’ve updated the site calendar which has all of the spring and regular season games: http://jaredb17.sg-host.com/calendar/
Let me know what you guys think of the format…kinda cool (if you don’t like you can change it to the typical calendar view)…
Calendar = me likey!
Agreed Jare. I was a little nervous when I heard Tom Helmer report this over the weekend. I just saw the update on tv. He can’t pick up a baseball for at least a week.
Hey sdcarp, did you mean the battle for the 5th starter or the battle among all of the 5th starters? :>)
I guess pitching at Coors for the past 6 months really wore down that shoulder.
Caracas, Venezuela: elevation 2,953 ft. The 5/9 mile high city. I blame Caracas! (It probably tires out Cargo’s 28-year old legs too)
