The Rockies are visiting the Oakland A’s Spring Training Facility today and Jhoulys Chacin was hoping to turn things around a bit before joining WBC team Venezuela. He has had some minor issues with his toe and some would question why the team is taking a chance having him pitch at all, possibly tempting the injury gods, but he took the mound and wasn’t as effective as hoped.
His line of four hits, three earned runs and two walks in two and a third was bad enough, but throw in an HR and a hit batter and it was a pretty tough outing. The only bright spot would be the three his three strikeouts issued.
The Rockies were down 5-0 going into the sixth, until Jordan and CarGo both singled before Nolan Arenado hit a 3-run shot.
Arenado making it very hard on the powers that be to send him down after how well he’s doing so far…
Even if Arenda outplays the other 3Bs, won’t the Rockies keep him at AAA until whatever date it is when his free agency is delayed by one year, as the Giants did with Buster Posey? He doesn’t turn 22 until April.
Well – there’s roughed up, and then there’s Ubaldo roughed up!
Jimenez 2.0 7 5 5 1 2 0 11.25
That isn’t roughed up – that’s beaten within an inch of your life and left for dead…
I’ve played 20 years in an ultra competitive fantasy league and our auction is in 2 weeks. When the Indians snagged Francona, I was thinking Ubaldo would be a good reclamation project and that maybe I could snag him late for $1. How the mighty have fallen!
