Chatwood Up; Cabrera Down

Pat Saunders of the Denver Post is reporting the Colorado Rockies have recalled right-hander Tyler Chatwood from Colorado Springs and optioned Left-hander Edwar Cabrera to the Sky Sox.  Chatwood will be available for the Rockies tonight against San Diego, but circumstances indicate he will likely take the Sunday turn in the rotation that would have gone to Cabrera.

Chatwood was 0-2/5.79 in nine starts with a WHIP of 1.90.  Cabrera was shelled in his first major league start on Wednesday, allowing 5 runs in 2 1/3 innings for a cartoon-style ERA of 19.29.

Chatwood’s performance thus far this season does not indicate a pitcher ready for the big show. I hope that he proves me wrong. It seems that the team is just filing in as best it can until it’s comfortable bringing up Pomeranz. Hopefully Pomeranz pitches well in his next starts for CS, and we see him as a Rockie soon.
