Michael Cuddyer was hit by a pitch Wednesday against the Cubs. He was tagged on the left shoulder and was eventually taken off the basepaths for a pinch runner.
He came in with a fastball, and it hit me right on the scapula…On the field, I couldn’t move it or lift it. I guess it got me on the nerve, so they took the precaution.
While the team hoped to have him on the field today, even going so far as to add him to the lineup, he has been removed from play until at least Saturday.
It ripped off the skin. It was stiff, sore. I am going to do everything today, but play in the game…If it was the regular season I would have played yesterday.
Larry Walker is joining the Rockies at camp to help coach next week. Walker will join Ellis Burks and Vinny Castilla to bring wisdom to the team through coaching and encouragement. Weiss is very excited, giving Walker only one piece of advice:
Just be Larry Walker. He might be the most talented player I ever played with, and I have been teammates with Hall of Famers.
Jhoulys Chacin is moving forward in his rehab and is expected to play catch at 60 feet today, throwing 40 times. After yesterday’s workout of 60 fee on 20 throws Chacin said he felt great and was moving forward. While not expected to be a part of the opening week roster, the team is shooting for him to be ready by mid April.
