Jordan Pacheco was not only not sent down to make room for EYj, he will be starting at third base tonight for the first of two against the Diamondbacks. Chris Nelson has been put on the DL with lingering left wrist pain. EYj is back on the roster with the move.
Cuddyer will get the start at first with Colvin filling in for him in right.
The Diamondbacks will be coming into town on a worse streak of losses than our own, having lost eight of their last nine. The Rockies are 7-5 at home against NL West opponents this season, two of the wins and one of the losses came against the Snakes.
Left-handed pitcher Jamie Moyer will make his team-leading eighth start of 2012 for Colorado tonight. Moyer is 4-1 with a 2.40 ERA (41.1 ip, 11 er) in six games/five starts against the Diamondbacks in his career. All four of his wins have come since 2007. Moyer carries a 12.2-inning scoreless streak against Arizona into tonight’s game.
Carlos Gonzalez, who was originally signed out of Venezuela by Arizona, comes into tonight’s game with the third-highest career batting average against the Diamondbacks of any player in Major League history. Gonzalez owns a .360 (58-for-161) career average, with 13 home runs and 31 RBI in 46 games against Arizona. CarGo is also batting .433 (13-for-30) with RISP this season, which ranks 2nd in the NL.
The Rockies will honor former club Owner/CEO/President Jerry McMorris prior to tonight’s game, with the ceremony beginning at 6:23 p.m…McMorris, who passed away after a battle with cancer on Tuesday, May 8th, was instrumental in bringing Major League Baseball to the Rocky Mountain region.
