Day Game Split With Braves?

The Rockies will bid adieu to the Atlanta Braves tonight, hopefully looking back at a split series before the Rox jump on a plane to the west coast to play the Giants and Dodgers.

Last nights win was topped with a bit of a cherry for those patiently waiting for the MLB debut of Tyler Matzek.  The five-year wait was well worth it as the fans were treated to an excellent exhibition from the future regular starter.  4 1/3 perfect innings and seven scoreless frames made it seem like the kid would go for the shutout.  But his low pitch count, coupled with the very first sign of traffic and WW decided to let him sit the rest of the game out instead of seeing if he could pitchout out of it.

Oh, and he also got his first single out of the way in the 7th.

Not a bad job, although a shame he couldn’t stay in to finish the thing up, or at lease be given a chance to get through the eighth.

One thing that was great to see: the kid that usually struggles with command, and is know for a lot of walks mixed in with strikeouts, gave zero free passes while striking out seven.  Can’t wait for his next start!

Very nice to see the boyz show some spine today! The replays I’ve seen make it looks like a fun game.

Out of town and wasn’t able to watch or listen to the game so other than the comments above, the box score and Patrick Saunders I have nothing to go by. Glad to see that Chacin finally got off the schneid. Somebody out there must have an answer. We had a lead, Chacin had pitched a shut out for 7 innings and threw only 85 pitches. Why was he pulled. Our bullpen has been overworked, Ottavino could use a rest.… Read more »

Always nice to listen to the out-of-town broadcast. If nothing else, the Brave’s crew makes me pine for George. Interesting listening to their call of the 9th–saying things like the Rox “…wouldn’t think of taking retribution since they’re ahead by 7 runs. Yeah, it would be stupid.” THANK YOU MR. MASSET–I’ve been waiting for at least 10 years for someone to react to the bullies kicking sand in our face. Best part is it put a bee in Walt’s bonnet.… Read more »

Bill, Chacin is fragile! Get him out after 85 pitches. Let him have a 7 inning shutout. Increase his trade value!
