Why mess with a good thing, or so the saying goes. When it comes to Tyler Colvin and his order in the lineup, Walt Weiss has shown he likes the fresh-faced kid back where he was last night: hitting 7th. Colvin finished the game with two home runs and four RBI’s in last nights 8-3 win over the Nationals.
Tonight will be the second of three and there was some question on if Jorge De La Rosa would be able to make his scheduled start. De La Rosa had a cut on his throwing hand middle finger. He was a game-time decision and all roads point to go.

I’d hate to be without baseball for the next week or so, but this smoke cannot be healthy for fans or players alike. I was out there for about an hour and am feeling yuck.
This just in: EYjr DFAd
Bad move Rockies! Good luck in the future Junior!
And the Rocks signed Gray. Under slot no less.
For the record, after seeing all the comments in the previous posts regarding obscure players and such, I have to believe that the collective knowledge of those on this website must rank with the highest per capita subject knowledge of all websites in existence. Some of you guys are off the charts and I love reading what each of you posts. Gotta run to the store, will listen to the early part of the game on XM then rush home… Read more »
Can’t these guys just talk baseball?
Lol. My wife said exactly that. Thinks George never talks about baseball. While he talked about his daughter becoming ms. OK, the Nats scored three runs. She does not want to hear about his daughter.
Jardean, btw, chat does not work on the iPad. Do I need to change a setting somewhere?
sorry Trip, i’ve been looking into that…i tested on my iPad and no go there either…sure wish i knew PHP better!
It doesn’t work on my Android tablet either. I’m pretty sure it used to work earlier this season.
So long, EYJ. Really, I have nothing against you. You just fit a whole lot better on an AL roster. I suspect some AL team will be interested: pinch runner, occasional pinch hitter/bunter, etc. It just wasn’t working on an NL team, particularly one like the Rockies that runs through a lot of subs with lots of pitching changes/pinch hitters and all that. Our subs need to be multi-dimensional or we see what happens — see Giambi last year, EY… Read more »
Astros.
I remember how excited I was with Matzek’s signing for 3.9 million, thinking the Rox were finally investing in home grown pitching. Now he’s in AA and long forgotten. Sure hope the 5.6 million Gray gets proves a bargain, but the Rox track record of developing pitchers (at least Gray’s out of college) remains a big concern. Looking forward to Oswalt next week. Betting Francis will end up in the bullpen, at least for a while. Nothing but good thoughts… Read more »
Doc, Matzek’s not a lost cause … yet. He doesn’t turn 23 until the end of the season, and he’s having an o.k. year in AA. The persistent problem remains his walk rate (and high pitch counts). You are right that it now looks unlikely that Matzek will become the kind of ace we hoped he’d become, but it’s too soon to give up on him. My guess: upside De La Rosa type late bloomer, downside Outman type winding up… Read more »
