Dex $2.35 Million Richer This Season

Dexter Fowler might be a little slower this season, what with his pockets quadrupling over what they held last season.  His arbitration avoiding contract is done, assumed to be $2.35 million, and we can only assume he is happy with that.  We know he is happy with the weight/muscle he is gaining as he is in Vegas working out with Tulo, Giambi and others.  This is the first time Dex has been eligible for arbitration and he is under team control through 2015.

Uh, oh…last time someone from the Rox’ squad agreed to a one-year, arbitration avoiding contract, he was shipped out the next day. Hope that’s not the case with Fowler…

If he’s working out with Tulo then he must be in the “in crowd”. So it is probably not his day to be scapegoated by DOD.

Personally, I’m not so sure Tulo as the Midas touch when it comes to who he works out with. I may be mistaken, but didn’t Stewart work out with Tulo for a time? Tulo’s routine and work ethic works for Tulo. Last year we read how Tulo was really trying to get some of the other young Rockies to up their game and was really driving the minor leaguers to improve as well. I’m just not sold that it actually… Read more »

I don’t think Stewart was working out with Tulo (at least not much) last offseason. I say that because somehow, someway, I ended up following Stewart on Twitter. And on Twitter (take this for what it’s worth), Stewart came off like an absolute immature dumba**! I think the Rox ultimately shut him down. Anyway…..he was tweeting about working out.

To the best of my knowledge the two that Tulo worked out with last offseason were Wheeler and Arenado. IMO it helped both of them.

My recollection is the same as sdcarp. In fact when Lansford was hired, it was his top priority to improve Stewart, Iannetta and Smith. I believe it was very roughly this time last year that he flew back east to work with Stewart and I think it was Smith, having already worked with the other.

This is a good article in the DP on Camp Tulo: http://www.denverpost.com/search/ci_19571707 ‘[Tulo] wanted to spend the entire winter picking teammate Jason Giambi’s brain, and living a few miles away would only accelerate that process. “He has been at the superstar level. He knows how to slow the game down when all eyes are on him. That’s something I have to improve,” Tulowitzki said. “The pressure is only to grow as expectations increase for our team and as I make… Read more »

Last year we talked about FISSH (Fowler, Iannetta, Smith, Stewart, and Helton). This offseason FISSH got gutted, and now only two of those guys are left. Does anybody have a new acronym?

Thanks for the correction guys. Wish I could find last years articles about Tulo’s off seaon. Maybe I’m just too pessimistic. If he indeed worked with Arenado and Wheeler then good job, but I didn’t think he did.

The one i know for sure from searching is that Arenado went last year, so this is his second year. Not sure if Wheeler went last year, but I swear i read that he did…I do know that some of the players there this year are Fowler, Arenado and Rutledge. One other thing i seem to remember from last week’s radio show was that Tulo invited Cuddy to Camp Tulo…i’d have to go back and listen to it and after… Read more »
