Farm Report Returns-Sort of!

I was sitting around just the other day lamenting the end of the monthly ITR Farm Report by Jack Etkin. Today by chance I happened across a similar replacement over on Purple Row. Haven’t had a chance to read all fourteen pages of the May report, but it seems to be well put together and a treasure chest of information about the Rockies minor league players. Thanks to the Purple Row and the guys over there that put this together. Great job!

Are you referring to the “Pebble Reports” on Purple Row?

Nope there is a “new” Farm Report on Purple Row written by Muzia and Andrew T Fisher (?). The daily Peebles Report is a recap of the previous night minor league activity. They also have 4-6 people that monitor each minor league game on a nightly basis (TV, radio, or GameDay) whatever medium that might be available. The monthly (at least that is their current plan) Farm Report is mostly a summary of all the daily activity during the month… Read more »

Thanks for the pointer, Orange. They did a good job on the farm report. Some good information there. No, it’s not Jack Etkin, but it’s a good addition.

By the way, what’s Jack up to these days? If he’s writing about baseball, I’d like to know where to read him. He really is one of the best.

A little hiccup for Tyler Matzek last night:
3 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 4 Ks, 8 BB (ouch!)

Doesn’t look like Nolan Arenado will be rushed to the majors any time soon. He’s been slumping badly since his hot start and his average is now in the .290s.

You know, sometimes the move to the Show can make a player not doing well in AAA, but one that has the talent to play in the bigs, step up…we are seeing an example of that right now with Harper who wasn’t ready by any stat in the minors, but has been a key player in the last couple of wins – especially his double last night…the kid is playing like he belongs and if it wasn’t for an injury… Read more »

I agree, Harper has started with a bang. But, 3 games is a very very small sample size. Soon the scouting reports will find the holes in his swing. The key will be if Harper can make the adjustments. One notable who made the adjustments to stay in the bigs with ony so-so minor league stats is (was) our own Matt Holiday. And you can fill books with lists of players who have not made the adjustment. Will be interesting… Read more »
