Final Game of Long Road Trip

There was nothing to watch yesterday for the third time in as many days.  The Rockies were trounced by Bosox 10-3 with Chad Bettis giving up the early runs and Chad Qualls giving up three in the eighth.  Before the game, Jason Motte was activated and Boone Logan was put on the DL retroactive to May 18th.

Jon Gray still has issues pitching in the first inning.  Tonight, he gave up a two-run blast to Big Papi naturally.  Over the first two innings the Rockies have not squared up any balls against Clay Buchholz. Six up and six down and Buchholz is on the way to pitching a perfect game.  Colorado needs to win tonight to salvage a 3-6 road trip, else it’s a terrible 2-7 trip.  The good news is that there will be no more trips longer than six games the rest of the season.

Roxnsox – the Red Sox are very good offensively. To me, the formula for them as the trade deadline nears will be simple. Find another frontline starter to pair with Price (I’m making the assumption Price comes around to his typical frontline starter profile eventually). They have a deep Farm System to trade from. So look for good starters on bad teams. Sonny Gray, if healthy, is candidate. Perhaps Julio Teheran….but that seems like a reach. We’ll see what happens.

Whoooo-EEE! What a finisher for the roadie. There is so much to say here, but I’ll just put up a few: Story goes over the Monstah. The kid is making some memories for sure. And how can you write this stuff: a young Rockies fan was in the Monster seats and caught the ball. His smile was priceless. Also, Trevor gets 5 stars for his excellent postgame Bull Durham baseball quotes. He’s got it figured out 🙂 Cargo big fly… Read more »

Oh, also – wondering how you guys who put up the pregame posts get the freaking great photos from the locale of the evening?! Good ones from Pittsburgh and Boston lately. Please do tell 😉

For some reason I was hoping to see DLR get one more opportunity to start. Preferably at home where he does well. Off the DL with confidence issues against an offense like Boston’s is pretty tough draw. I like Rusin as the long relief guy much more than a starter.
