Just notice Walkman sent down … all the way to Tulsa. Depriving us of a chance to use the new nickname. This season is no fun at all.

Uh oh, I can’t wait for Ag’s response to this. These are fighting words. I’ve learned my lesson, no more crossing swords with ol’ Agbayani.

Tough to score runs when your leadoff hitter goes 0-for-5 with four K’s. And saw just 17 pitches; apparently he didn’t feel it was helpful to try and work the count.

On the road this year, Fowler’s batting .193 with an alarming 36% strikeout rate…nearly twice as many strikeouts (34) as hits (18).

Why is Giambi still on this team? He’s obviously a luxury they can’t afford.

Just to note: the Best GM in Baseball has put together a team with the Worst in Baseball record. On par to lose 100.

Just too funny that the MFL (Manager for Life) Tracy and the BIB (Best in baseball) DanO continue on with the Rockies. Both would have been fired years ago by ANY other team in the MLB. Orioles once again my favorite team, and I do not live anywhere near Camden Yard.

One last note after the 2011 and 2012 seasons, the Colorado Rockies have actually more than earned the #1 overall draft pick in 2013.

Too bad they won’t know what to do with it.

I have to disagree with you OrangeRocks. It’s not funny at all. If this were a little league team, the parents would band together to oust the coach.

I had to give up bitching about the current status of MFL Tracy and BIB DanO. In deed truth be told I had to have therapy seasons last year to somehow survive the MFL (Manager for Life) announcement – so as such the only logical thing to do now is to “laugh” at the Rockies and their owners.

I agree, it seems that trading Giambi is obviously a move that should be made. Wouldn’t a contending team give us a pitching prospect, an arm of the future?

BTW the basement dwelling fire sale should include ALL of the following: 1. Guthrie (nice guy but does not fit Coors or Rockies going forward) 2. Scutaro (a favorite of mine, but he should bring back some pitching) 3. Cuddyer (too much money although I like the RH power bat) 4. Hernandez (solid veteran but the Rockies don’t need him now) 5. Giambi (should have been gone three years ago-just not a fan at all) 6. EY2 (it is time… Read more »

I keep reading how the home team is on track to lose 100 games and I always find this sort of math to be problematic. Just because they’ve lost 50 at the halfway mark doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll double that. Using this logic, I have a much worse scenario. Since they won 11 in April, 10 in May and 9 in June, this math tells me they will win 8 this month, 7 in Aug, 6 in Sep for a… Read more »

exactly Saberchip..always rediculous when someone comes out and hits 4 HR’s first 2 weeks and all the hoopla around him projected to hit 112 for the year. Almost boarders on stupidity to make statements like that. I believe Kemp was going to to sew up the MVP in April…that ship sailed for obvious reasons…just like predicting Rox will lose at least 100. None of us want that regardless..you don’t have to be the low victory team and still need changes..we… Read more »

If the Rockies determine that Colvin and Fowler are starters, then that makes Cuddyer a $11.5m per year 4th outfielder. Further if the Monforts were Steinbenner, you could simply say that the money to Cuddyer was no big deal.

However you can only play three outfielders at one time and in case you might have missed it – the Rockies still need pitching. $10.0m per year can buy you a fairly serious starting pitcher in the MLB market.

thanks Orange…I think what you missed is the Rox weren’t shopping for pitching at the time. I agree that they could have used it but it wasn’t on their list. All I am saying is he has performed well given what has happened. They need to decide if Colvin or Cuddyer is going to be getting a bunch of starts at first.

This is almost like Deja Vu. Unfortunately for me, I seem to understand this version of “new math”. Being a long time Rays supporter including the family having seasons tickets, I’ve been down this road. More than once. In general, I agree they are on track to lose 100. Realisticly, probably 90-95. Nothing I’ve seen makes me optimistic for a better second half. Then there is the subject of players. Who stays? Who goes? How come player “x” does well… Read more »

Fowler vs. Colvin: why not have ’em both? In response to Egossage (glad to see you back and in fine form too) — I do still prefer Fowler to Colvin. Here’s why: — they’ve been almost equally productive on overall “rate” stats (per Plate Appearance) this year, although Dex has done it over more playing time — overall, on the very short list of Good Things that Happened to the Rockies in 2012, we have this: overall productivity for outfielders:… Read more »

Is Tulo off the table in any trade discussions now? Just throwing it out there

No offense but the Rockies will NOT trade Tulo even if his contract was very friendly, he was completely healthy, and the Rockies had three stud shortstops knocking down the door to the MLB. This is a trade (Tulo ) that would never happen and I almost never say never to anything.

I agree. That’s more of that sentimental attachment stuff. Not that I want to trade Tulo or anything, but if somebody gave us a fantastic offer it’d be worth looking at. But I doubt they’d seriously look.

Agbayani

Tulo’s contract is the issue. If he gets healthy and stays reasonably healthy and doesn’t decline faster than expected, it’s fine. But it goes up to 20 million a year in 2015 and stays there through 2019. Right now he probably has no significant trade value — the new club would just be taking on his contract. And we’d be selling low since he hasn’t established his health. I think that’s why it’s off the table for now.

Whatever… We (you) all bitch all winter about how the Rox won’t spend any money, then when they do we all bitch because it was’t for Stephen Strasborg or some other equally impossible dream. Cuddyer’s simply not sexy enough for us I guess. Maybe it’s his wife. Maybe she’s ugly or had a bad boob job or something. I better Google her + check…

Monfort could go out and buy the NL All Star team. Dan O’Down, Jim Tracy and the coaching staff would still find a way to lose 90 games. I said it last year and I’ll repeat it again this year; How does anyone know what kind of talent is on this team with such dysfunctional leadership?

Bill

Ike. I agree with you. Somebody has the burn the dirty pictures of the Monferts that DoD is using to blackmail them. Then they can get rid of the whole management staff and start anew. As for Cuddeyer. Yes, he’s overpaid but he is still a better option at 1st then either Giambi or Helton. So play him there, trade Giambi for whatever you can get for him which I don’t think we’ll be much and hope that Helton either… Read more »

Here’s the problem with “spending” the Monforts’ money. They’re not spending their money. It our dollars their spending and if they double the payroll, we should expect tickets, concessions, parking, etc to double. Cleaning house won’t get us back in the hunt immediately. We’ll have to wait for the next philosophy to run its course. I can wait but it’s extremely difficult to do while the current regime keeps shooting holes in the lifeboat. I can’t keep bailing. My bucket’s… Read more »
