HOME-FIELD MYSTERY

Let’s start a new thread for tonight’s (Tuesday’s) game.  What in the holy baseball alternate universe has the Rockies better on the road?

Chris Rusin needs to prove something.  Like: he can be slightly better than serviceable.  CarGo needs to hit a home run (his longest drought, 20 games, since sometime in 2012). Justin Miller needs to have only one more chance.

I have to wonder, along with Bill, Pooter, and others, why Walt still has his job.  Is it a remnant (or continuation) of the Rockies’ management’s unfathomable loyalty?  (Hey – I love Walt and I wanted him to do this, and thought he might.)  Most other teams would be putting the laser on him.  Is it the Monfort leash on Bridich? (don’t know if Jeff even has the authority to hire/fire the manager).

Good stuff: the young hurlers are showing up in the minors.  Also the young hitters.  Note to the youngsters: get here before Nolan is gone.

I can’t stomach Rockies performance at home anymore. Just totally ridiculous. Rockies continue to be feeble at home while opponents continue hiring HRs??????

I don’t get this rule. Arizona manager comes to the mound for the second time in the inning in the middle of a batter. All he got as a punishment was more time for bullpen to warm up???????? Blackmon should be automatically issued a walk as punishment. #fixrules

I watched most of Monday’s game but only saw glimpses of Tuesday’s game. Other things to do, Yankees-Royals was a back and forth slugfest, a few minutes of Spurs-Thunder, overtime playoff hockey and the Rockies stinking it up at home. WW wasn’t sure why, “long tough road trip and a few other excuses”. Meanwhile other teams also have road trips etc. No excuse for 7 straight home losses. I finished my night of sports watching, while also working, watching the… Read more »

Bill – Trayce Thompson was one of the best players I saw in ST, He’s part of that 3-way trade the Dodgers/White Sox/Reds made that sent Todd Frazier to the White Sox. The Dodgers got three really good Prospects in the deal. They made out like bandits.

“Our offense is great, if the pitching can hold up.” That’s the casual Rockies fans (not us!) mantra, and it’s been wrong for many years now. When you adjust stats for home park, the Rockies this year rank:

– Hitting: 19th
– Pitching: 18th

This is no offensive juggernaut. And a big part of that is Cargo — a Cargo without HRs just isn’t that good a player. Let’s hope we see a HR tear pretty soon.
