At least Nicasio will be able to breath a little easier tonight knowing he isn’t the odd man out to make room for Oswalt’s call-up. Jeff Francis cleared out his locker and it is anticipated that his time with the team has come to a close. Nothing is official, but Francis will not get a ticket to Washington for then next series. Whether the next ticket he gets is to the Springs or the road is to be seen. Knowing he still has options, and the organization is still very thankful to him for his years of service as well as highly devoted to pretty much anyone with a pulse, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him pitching for the Sky Sox sometime soon.
Today’s final game against the surging Blue Jays will see Nicasio taking the ball and, depending on his outing, possible talk of bringing up someone like Drew Pomeranz sooner rather than later.
ROCKIES LINEUP

As much as i hate to see the decline of Jeff (especially at the detriment of the Rox), i’m pretty excited to see what Roy can do! Now if Juan can pull it together and help us avoid the sweep that will be good…
If Nicasio does badly or goes just five innings, i suggest calling up DrewPo and make DrewPo #5 with Nicasio being #5a to piggy back DrewPo starts.
Rox coaching staff needs to realize it is more the approach of the hitters as to why they keep failing on the road than the lineup. Putting Cargo 2nd isn’t the way to do it in my opinion, might work out for a night or two but it isn’t the answer long term.
You know what would have been nice to start the game? A leadoff single. That is what EYJ did in his first at bat as a Met. I think the Rockies goofed
Please give it up Pooter, this unconditional love of EYjr. It was a nice run with EYjr while it lasted, but it had run its course and it was time to cut him loose. You may be the only one left that thinks letting him go was a mistake.
What did he do the rest of the game Pooter? NOTHING!!! That leadoff single sure was key for the Mets loss lastnight wasn’t it. I’m sure if he had a leadoff single for us lastnight that would have been the difference in the game. Get over EYJ.
Two clubs going in opposite directions tonight …
Get the heck out of Canada as fast as possible. Hopefully the losing stays in that country.
ahhh it’s more than Canada … try the AL East
I usually go through about 4 or 5 of these moments a season which has my wife laughing each time, but I’m close to my “I’m done with these guys this season” rant….that being said, looking forward to seeing if Oswalt can break us out of this mess. My gut says he’s not going to be a savoir, but better than our current situation….now fix the Nicasio situation (Pomerantz?). Our favorite little bar is hosting a night with Ska Brewery… Read more »
I’m preparing myself for the inevitable 2-7/1-8 road trip which arrives as certain as snow in Colorado. “Smoke and mirrors” is the term I’ve been using with my friends at Coors Field. Although we have a very good offensive team, we are and will continue to struggle…looking for a consistant performance from our lineup which isn’t happening as we approach the halfway point in the season. As for the pitching, well let’s just say, we hope to see Oswalt and… Read more »
I hate to say it but this is going to be a brutal stretch all the way to the All-Star break and I called it just a few weeks ago.
Ed-good to see you buddy, hope all is well. I hate to say that I agree with both of you guys. I always wonder in March how much “use” I will get out of my MLB.TV subscription….it took a nose-dive early last year, hopefully I’ll still be using it in July….
So who thinks Francis will accept going to the Springs or will choose other options?
Never mind. I guess I should have looked on twitter before asking the question. He is going to the Springs.
I’m an eternal optimist. W are going to win 3 of 4 in Washington with the SPs that i have waited a long time for. Oswalt has an edge to him and the team will be inspired. Oswalt will give us very good pitching as good as Chztwood. Once Dexter gets back in the lineup, our lineup will get back on their horses. Its been all smokes and mirrors until today. It’s 5 to 10 games above .500 the rest… Read more »
