Important Rubber Game Tonight

More good news continued to pour in for the Rockies; as reported by jaredean three Rockies (Tulo, Nazty, NoDo) are leading the balloting at their respective positions for the All Star game.  On the injury front, a rough timetable were reported by trainer Keith Dugger that both Brett Anderson and Tyler Chatwood could be pitching by mid-July.  CarGo is day to day with his various assortments of  bumps and bruises.  The “bad” news is that Franklin Morales was announced as the starter for Saturday’s game at Cleveland.

Jordan Lyles (5-1, 3.45 ERA) will oppose swing pitcher Roberto Hernandez (2-2, 3.83 ERA).  The Rockies are at a critical juncture on their current road trip.  A win would enable them to even up the current trip record at 3-3 while taking the season series from the Phillies.  A loss would would put tremendous pressure on the team to win the series in Cleveland to keep the team respectable despite a 23-inning drought at one point.  Both Tulo and CarGo are out of the lineup tonight.

Colorado is currently at 12-11 in the month of May.  Historically they have not performed very well in May.  They will be well served to close out May on a high note because the schedule will only get very tough from June 6th through July 6th.  All opponents are projected to be playoff bound or come close to it.  Summary of schedule:

Dodgers (3), Braves (4), @ Giants (3), @ Dodgers (3), Brewers (3), Cardinals (3), @ Brewers (4), @ Nationals (3), Dodgers (4)

Tulo out tonight. Several comments on twitter indicating “routine maintenance day.” But there were also some comments last night that thought he may have tweaked his side in his last AB. Hope that’s not the case…..because that’s a nagging injury.

They said they would give Tulo a day off at some point near the middle of the road-trip, so I am choosing to see this as merely that.

But with CarGo already not in the lineup, this is going to be the Sunday-est lineup in history. But then again…maybe Blackmon and Rutledge make this the new power lineup!

RMH, you knew it was coming … Outman (we’ll see him next series): 4-0, 2.45 in 18 IP. Logan: 1-1, 4.50 in 14 IP.

And we signed Logan to a 3 year contract? Bad, bad loss. And it should not have come down to the 9th. Rockies left 15 on base.

I know Hawkins turns your hair gray but he was 11 out of 12 in save situations this year. Logan was unwanted by a team that needs a lefty out of the bullpen. But DoD is smarter than everybody else.

Yeah, it never, ever should’ve come down to this. And Logan is the best lefty we have — we all know he’s not as wildly erratic as Brothers. But he is the 16 million dollar man (over 3 years), and this is why O’Dowd got him. Howard is awful against lefties, but obviously not against Boone. Outman? He makes 1.25 million this year, and overall Boone is the better reliever, but when it comes to getting lefties out, there’s no… Read more »
