Injuries Continue to Mount

As expected, Brett Anderson was placed on the DL and  Brooks Brown was recalled to replenish the free pass stockpile.  Today’s starter, Jordan Lyles (5-1, 3.52), was activated while Jason Pridie was sent back to Colorado Springs to make room for Lyles.  The only highlights worth watching this year are the gold glove caliber plays by Nolan Arenado.  He needs help from the other eight teammates if they are going to upset the Chicago Cubs tonight.  CarGo and his non existent bat returns to the lineup tonight in the five-hole.  Fort McKenry takes over the game calling duty tonight.

Why drop Pridie instead of making a statement by dropping Barnes or Brothers or others who’ve not been making anything happen? No one in the entire organization is held accountable for anything. Culture of losing aided, abetted and approved by everyone in the organization.

Interestingly (to me anyway) – the two guys traded away that were debated the most (Fowler and Pomeranz) are also injured. Both have shown some redeeming qualities to the receiving team (especially Pomeranz) – but in the end they’re playing like Rockies on loan.

Changing the focus, I have listened to the Rockies play the Cubs on the radio and with our ace announcers. They have now for six games pronounced Arismendy Alcantara’s last name incorrectly. I am amazed that with probably 40% of MLB players being Latin that these announcers cannot spend the time to at least try to pronounce Latin named players correctly. I hope it is just stupidity, not racism.

I’m sure it’s not racism, Julie.

I wonder how Harry Caray would have pronounced it though?

Not to mention how he’d pronounce their relief pitcher Schlitter!

Drew sure got this one wrong: During the sixth inning Goodman recalled the July 30, 2010 game against the Cubs where the Rox set a record. Unfortunately, he claimed that the Rockies set a major league record with 12 straight hits: 8 doubles, a triple, and 3 homers. Not quite, Drew. The Rockies set a NL record with 11 straight hits in the 8th inning. (Two AL teams had 12 in a row.) It started with two hits, two strikeouts,… Read more »

Was this the same game where Cargo sealed the game, and his cycle, with a walkoff homer?

Sorry for the late reply, but the answer is “no”. Rockies won 17-2 and did not need the walk-off. I do remember that Cargo’s RWO was on the first pitch in the 10th inning.
