The team RWO (or at least JD) loves to hate comes to town tonight in the form of the San Francisco Giants as the Rockies are looking to prove that they belong in the NL West race early in the season. Over the past few years this has been a brutal match-up for Rockies faithful to watch as the Rockies have not won a series against SF since 2008. REALLY? 2008? Paraphrasing Harry Doyle, “We haven’t won ONE Series?…ONE G** D*** Series?”
The Rockies look for Jhoulys Chacin (3-2. 2.70 ERA) to stop a 2 game losing streak and get the first win of the series. Chacin is 1-2 in his last 3 starts with a 3.44 ERA. Pablo Sandoval is Chacin’s nemesis as he’s hitting .412 against him with 17 ABs and a .941 slugging percentage (how do you even do that??).
For the Giants, its Matt Cain (2-2, 5.04 ERA) who is 2-0 in his last 3 starts with a 2.95 ERA. Troy Tulowitzki has hit Cain rather well the last 5 years, hitting .412 in 34 ABs with 4 HRs.
Marco “I had a cup of coffee in Colorado in 2012” Scutaro is on a 14 game hitting streak and is hitting .482 during said streak.
We’ve had a great, lively debate about what the next 10 games mean to the Rockies…time to see if the Rockies bats can be as lively as my fellow RWOs have been.
Thanks to MLB.com for the stats above.
Weather should be nice, low 70’s with a slight chance of precipitation.
Late breaking news (cue typewriter sound for those of you who remember typewriters): Jeff Francis goes on the 15 day DL for a left groin strain, RWO favorite Reid Brignac (thanks for letting me steal that line Jeem) gets DFA’d. DJ LeMahieu and Rob Scahill drive north on I-25.
Here’s the lineups:

Sorry about the formatting on the lineups all…I need more swings in the cage…
GO ROCKIES!
This is why we lost the game tonight. They know Howe to come back and have swagger. We don’t know how to close them out. We are who we are and they are who they are.
That is our ace……
What really pisses me off is Cargo at second, no outs and he does not score! Homer or nothing!!
Johnny Sparkplug is pretty good at situational hitting, doesn’t swing for the fence, but he gets no love around here cause he isn’t “sexy” enough and doesn’t have power…can’t win for losing 😉
Well, that’s about as putrid a loss as they come
Instead of focusing on the bad things for the Rox, cuz there are plenty of them and the list just seems to be growing at the moment instead of shrinking, I’m going to focus on the Giants. That team is so fun to watch, they are relentless with just good baseball play. You don’t see them trying to hit 8 run homers on every pitch, they move runners over, they just flat out play to their strengths. Cain gets lit… Read more »
My wife is a huge baseball fan and the Giants are her favorite team to watch for a lot of the reasons you say Cameo. She says all the time, it just looks like they enjoy and respect the game and their own team. I can’t blame her some days and yes, there’s a reason that organization (I purposely said organization as opposed to team) has won 2 of the last 3…
That said, I hope we pound ’em.
As much as I want the Rockies to win this series, I have to cheer for Lincecum tomorrow, hopefully get to go to the game. That kid has more guts and fight than the entire Rockies starting rotation put together.
yes, i gave you one star…i think the Giants are my least favorite team in the MLB and Lincecum is my least favorite player on my least favorite team…when he started crying about “juiced balls” after pitching a few years ago a game that we didn’t get a hit until like the 5th inning (like how dare we get a hit off of him ever!!!), then i put him in the root against at all costs column…
