KC Going For Season Royal Flush

Colorado’s best Coors Field pitcher, Jorge De La Rosa (12-8, 4.32) will attempt to deal a low card to the Royals tonight.  In seven seasons with the Rockies, De La Rosa has a 43-14 record (.754 winning pct) at Coors Field which is the second best home field win/loss percentage in baseball for that time period behind Zack Greinke.  Matt McBride is currently with the team after being recalled Sunday to replace Yohan Flande.  McBride is called upon to man the first base position tonight hitting sixth.  Big Money Cuddyer continues to show his age trying to massage his hammies back into game shape after a busy day on Helton Sunday.  But he says he is available if needed and should be back in the lineup Friday night.  (We’ve heard that story many times over.)

Sorry, McBride had 2 HRs in 2012. But you may just see the first Rockies complete game since … ??? Did we have one this year? Last year?

Last complete game was by Tyler Chatwood in LA last year. Of course, in true Rockies fashion he lost the game 1-0. Previous to that were 5 CG in 2011 by Chacin, DLR, and Ubaldo.

Thanks, Bob. I’m sure that Chatwood complete game destroyed his elbow (at least that’s what the Rockies would say), so never again!

Doggone it. At least let DLR start the ninth. What the hell do they have to lose? What a shame.

Good game. By contrast I was at DLR’s first Rockies game. He gave up 9 runs on 9 hits and 3 walks in 4 innings. Left game with a 20.25 ERA. Seemed like another bad acquisition that day!

DLR has won 26% of Rockies games this year. He’s a man. A complete contrast to when he first came up. I think he should have been allowed to complete the game, but we’ll take a win. I missed a good portion of the game including McBride’s grand slam. Is he the only one we have remaining from the Ubaldo trade? Excluding our ace Brett Anderson who came when we traded DrewPo and has pitched, what 5-6 games this? Who… Read more »

Very well played game by the Rockies. DLR is one of the few bright spots in a dismal year. I really like Arenado picking up the team with aggressive play on both sides of the ball.

Arenado has played like a man on a mission since the benching for not hustling on that misplayed ground out. He seems to have certainly learned a lesson.

I was at the game and talking to KC fans (they outnumbered Rox fans in Section 142), I almost feel bad for bemoaning our team. Those fans have known some true baseball suffering. Since the WS in 1985, they have had two seasons above .500, 2003 and last year. A 32 year old guy I spoke with had never seen his team in the playoffs. And they were all unfailingly polite. I guess when 100 loss seasons are your norm,… Read more »
