LA Sunset

The Los Angeles Dodgers and their New York-style payroll sit 3 games away from elimination in the National League playoff race.  The Colorado Rockies are eager to handle 2 of those, as they face Los Angeles for two final 2012 games at Dodger Stadium in Chavez Ravine.  The Rockies send right-hander Tyler Chatwood (5-5, 5.49) to the hill tonight at 7:10 against Joe Blanton (9-13, 4.86), also a righty. Chatwood has really been “not too bad” for Colorado, working into the fifth as often as anybody.  He went 5 2/3 and got the win Monday versus the Diamondbacks, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits.  Blanton is
1-4/5.57 in 9 starts for LA since coming to the Dodgers from Philadephia in late May.  He hasn’t been out since September 21 when he also pitched 5 2/3 innings for no decision in a Los Angeles victory over the Reds.

Amid speculation about his job status and how he really feels about it, MFL Jim Tracy is going with that lineup that has Josh Rutledge leading-off, Jordan Pacheco hitting 3rd, and Wilin Rosario cleaning-up. Don Mattingly has Nick Punto batting 1st at second base.  Andre Ethier hits 2nd, Shane Victorino 6th.

It’ll be a lovely evening at the Stadium, sunny skies and a game-time temperature of 78° with 45% relative humidity.  Wind will blow across the field from 3rd to 1st for the first several innings, then shift around to blowing in from left as night falls.  The game is not televised tonight, but Jerry and Jack are on KOA 850 am.

that’s what happens when you complain over and over and over to the company hosting…it looks like they finally caught the site that was hogging the bandwidth…but, i would place money that it wont last – i’m looking to move to a different server that I have control over…

Jeem. I don’t think this game is on local TV. ROOT Sports is televising the all-important Montana vs Eastern Washington Football game or maybe it’s Montana State. Of course the Denver Post could be wrong I haven’t watched much more than an inning or two the last week or so. Beating the Cubs at home proves absolutely nothing. But if my MLB baseball package lets me watch the game with Vin Scully calling the action I might watch. And I… Read more »

“requires to be blacked out in your area” I’m sorry but I still struggle to understand why, if I’m paying for extra innings, I can’t see the game. Because the local station that carries the game opts to show po dunk high football instead? It’s an away game. What am I missing??? The freakin game is being broadcast. I just watched part of it when MLB tv cut to it. It’s on Extra Innings. Legalities … a.k.a $$$$$ of mlb… Read more »

So now Colvin is out with an inflamed elbow, and Giambi is done with a hernia in addition to his “stomach virus.” Leaving Jonny Herrera today as the sole reserve position player. Yes, it’s a streak of bad luck. But as I said a couple days ago, this is completely unacceptable. This is a Rockies management that is simply refusing to put a full roster in the dugout. Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of things this year I’ve never seen… Read more »

Embarrassing…another sign of giving up. It shows they don’t care about the fans that paid to see the last of the season or paid for the MLB.tv, etc. not having players called up is wrong. Plain and simple.

Even if the typical Rockies fan does notice? Some may care. Some may not. BUT it’s not really a big deal. “We’ll get em next season”

If, and granted it’s a big IF, Bud Selig really cared about the good of the game he would suspend, fine or at least reprimand O’Dowd and the Montferts. It’s unbelievable that they are playing with no bench.

How about the Monforts instead of the Montferts? You don’t want the fine to go return to sender do you, Bill?
