Let’s Win One for RMH – Version II

Welp…..despite a spirited effort, the Rox came up just short last night with RMH in the house cheering for the Boyz in Purple.

Tonight we’ve got Tyler Anderson vs. Archie Bradley. Coming into this season, I felt like Bradley and Jon Gray were in similar places. Big talents, big arms, but only two pitches….and neither pitcher could command even the FB on a consistent basis. In other words……on the fast track to being relievers. Fast forward to near mid-season and Gray is throwing 4 pitches and showing flashes of real FB command. So he’s taken off a bit. Bradley has been a little slower to come around, but even he has been showing some glimpses of what all the hype was about when he was in HS. So this should be a good, fair matchup.

The Rox need for a starter or two to string together games where they go deep into the game so the BP gets a breather. Might as well be Anderson, right?

The DBacks are getting a great, under-the-radar season from 3Bman Jake Lamb. He’s legit.

Lots to keep an eye on as we approach the season mid-point. The Rox are continuing to get fantastic performances throughout the minor league system. Meanwhile, our old friend Cargo is heating up in concert with other contending teams incurring key OF losses or under-performances (Cleveland and Red Sox come to mind immediately). There’s been a trend in the last few years for some of the key non-waiver deadline trades to be made well in advance (as much as a month) of the actual deadline. With that in mind, we’re entering the “trade zone.”

I have never seen a worse baserunning team than the Rockies. Doesn’t matter who the coach is, this team flat out sucks on the bases.

Stout did a great job on the telecast tonight, too bad he didn’t get a better result. Or perhaps it was just another reason why optimism is painful in this town when it comes to baseball.

Three crushing losses in a row.All on the burned terrible bullpen.Zero won’t be back in time to save the season I’m afraid. We get Taco’s every game but I’d rather have wins.Spilly is truly a natural as a color man.If ROOT doesn’t sign him long term,I guarantee he will be stolen away to some big market team. His commentary on what pitch is coming next has been uncanny. Why didn’t he hit .400?

Our manager drives me crazy, not so bad last night, but on most he leaves his bullpen pitchers in too long, sometime just one batter too long. It is apparent to me that Castro needs go down and work back into where he was before. 0 could sure be an asset, but lets let him get ready. Spilly is great, I totally agree about signing him long term! I wasn’t expecting much, but they have shown improvement and then the… Read more »

“We’re going on contact there,” Rockies manager Walt Weiss said of the play in which Arenado was tagged out. “If there’s a double play, you get one shot left. You make him throw home, you’ve still got two shots left. It’s too bad right there.” NO! NO! NO! DON’T GO ON CONTACT THERE! “It’s ‘too bad’ right there?” Gaaaaahhhhh. Tying run, no outs, ball bunted straight to the fielder. Terrible, terrible mistake. Did the boss send Nolan? Or was it… Read more »
