In a post season that has been nothing short of depressing in the lack of action by the team, any little news becomes big news. Today’s little news is that arbitration-eligible players Josh Outman and Wilton Lopez have both agreed to a one-year contract.
The team has decided not to offer long-term contracts to arbitration-eligible players, so Fowler won’t be getting a big payday this off-season, but will most likely get something substantial in his second year of arbitration.
Lopez, really the only “big” pickup in the off-season, will make $1.7625 million, with Outman receiving $675,000.
Chacin, Colvin, Herrera and Fowler all remain unsigned as of now. They all have until Friday to reach an agreement before arbitration begins.
