Mismatch Expectations Met

This game can be summarized in a paragraph or less.  The Washington Nationals took advantage of free passes, wild pitches, and ineffective starting and relief pitchers (Christian Friedrich & Chad Bettis) to score a decisive 7-1 victory over the Colorado Rockies.  The only run was on a D.J. LeMahieu homer in the eighth inning off Stephen Strasburg.  Ryan Spilborghs and Jenny Cavner discussed in the ROOT TV post game show that the team is in general are not putting in the effort to play 100 percent.  The misery is expected to continue for at least three more nights.  They faced Jordan Zimmerman last night and Stephen Strasburg tonight.  The next three nights Colorado will see Doug Fister, Zack Greinke, and Clayton Kershaw.  All five pitchers are aces on any staff.  Tomorrow night the game will start an hour earlier at 4 p.m. MDT which may be the last game that NoDo is not in the lineup.

Both Friedrich and Bettis now… Read more »

Rox pretty much punted this one, expecting to lose to Strasburg and sitting Tulo and Blackmon. That’s understandable I guess, but what’s with the punishment of Stubbs (0-4, 3 K) and Barnes (0-4, 1 K) by playing them against the kind of power righty who eats them alive?
