MLBtv Top 100 Right Now: Rockies

MLBtv’s annual Top 100 MLB players (Right Now) aired and there were three Rockies that made the list.

Last years batting champ Michael Cuddyer hit the board at 73. This is Cuddyers first time cracking the code towards recognition.

His two teammates faired much better with Tulo coming in at 13 and Cargo almost making the top 10, but settling in at 11th.

What do you guys think, too high? Low? Wrong order?

Personally, I think they are way too high for what they’ve done for the team the last few years. The MLBtv crew did harp on injuries over and over and over.

Tulo and CarGo are right where they are IMHO. Cuddyer shouldn’t be in the top 100, but MLBN decided to reward his batting title. If this was the preseason list, then I’m going out on a limb and say Arenado will crack the top 100 with better numbers (.280, 22 HRs, 90 RBIs) at the plate to go with his golden standard glove.

I think way too high, but I’m following your thought/criteria JD of “what they’ve done for the team over the last few years”…using that thought, I’d put Cuddy higher than those 2…and I can’t figure out if my thought that is painfully obvious or completely absurd…or somewhere in the middle! HA!

What did MLB use as criteria? Just curious-my research background coming into play here. 🙂

I don’t know what their criteria were but there are some serious flaws in the list. I can understand Derek Jeter being #100, but just what kind of logic did they use to come up with Brandon Phillips as #99? There are others on the list that seem to be seriously under-rated and others that appear to be very over-rated.

I’m pretty sure that the Top 100 is based on the assumption that the players play a full season healthy.

Carpenter – one great season; let me see him perform over a few seasons.
Aramis Ramirez – getting washed up and riding into the sunset.
Donaldson – who is he?

So I think NoDo would have had a great chance to crack the top 10 had he put up better numbers at the plate last year.
