In back-to-back doses of bad news, the Rockies are dealing with two difficult blows to their team.
- Juan Nicasio is out for the season after knee surgery. Four bone chips were removed from his leg and he isn’t expected to return to any sort of baseball for the next four months. It is possible he could pitch in the Dominican Instructional League in November if things go well.
- Chris Nelson was admitted to a local hospital today and is undergoing tests for an irregular heart beat. There isn’t much information yet because it just happened.
Two doses of very bad news! I hope both can make a quick recovery…irregular heart beat isn’t good…
Feel bad for both. Hope both can recover and still play ball. My comment goes to all this year’s “injuries”. All this time to discover Nicasio needed surgery? In spring training I kept saying “why is Tulo limping”. My husband ignored me! Watching Todd, I could tell he was not right when it finally came out his hip was hurting. I was wondering the same thing! Why did they wait around two months before discovering those “loose bodies?”
Re Tulo, he probably blew it off + said he was fine.
But others, eg Chacin? Why didn’t they suspect something there last August?
How ironic about Tulo criticizing Ubaldo for blowing off injury and then he does it. Eh. Whatever. Becoming less and less a Tulo fan. If he wasn’t on the Rox I think he would not be a favorite of mine at all.
Scary stuff about Chris Nelson.
Did anyone notice the VERY awkward hug Tulo gave Dex after the game? Everyone was mobbing Dex and Tulo came over and gave him a little bent-over half-hug and walked away…strange…
Latest update on Chris Nelson:
“Chris Nelson had heart shocked back into rhythm. Remains in hospital where his conditioned will be monitored.”
