Nicasio vs Bailey for Second of Three Against Reds

While there’s still time to salvage the series against the Reds, the bigger questions is the status of Tyler Chatwood.  Chatwood came out after four innings in last nights loss and is flying back to Denver today for a precautionary MRI.  His tricepts injury could land him on the DL, meaning a big piece of the Rockies pitching puzzle will be missing.  Jeff Francis is on his way back via the rehab start on Monday.  He was ineffective after lasting only four innings while giving up three earned on six hits.  He did strike out five and nobody got a free pass, but he gave up a two-run HR and took the loss.  Francis is the frontrunner to replace Chatwood, if he goes on the DL, since Oswalt has a couple more AA starts to make and Pomeranz is in a bit of a slump.  That speculation courtesy of a Renck Tweet.

Today’s lineup looks like musical chairs.  Arenado is getting a day off and DJ LeMahieu is moving over from 2nd to third while Johnny Sparkplug is sliding into second.  Yorvit will be behind the dish to catch Nicasio.

The first round of results from the NL All Star Voting were released today and Tulo is first in votes at short stop.  Tulo has 1,025,844 compared to Crawford’s 668,140.  CarGo is sitting 10th among outfielders with 482,719 votes.

ah yes. I see the pattern again. Early lead. Pitcher struggles. Bats are put away.

We suck at the PH this year. If it isn’t EYJ striking out its Pacheco hitting into DPs.

EYjr as a PH this season:1-17 with 9 Ks.
Hate to say it, but EY’s time with this team is drawing to a close. Sorry Pooter.

Oswalt tonight at Tulsa:
7 IP on 89 pitches
7H, 3R, 5 Ks

Hopefully this is his last appearance in Tulsa. He has nothing more to prove at Tulsa, let’s get him up here.

Thanks for tonight’s Roy Watch report, Cisco. He’s no savior, but c’mon — does anyone think that Garland gives you a better chance to win? Plus they’re wasting what will no doubt be a limited number of Oswalt innings this season keeping him down in AA.

Hey Jare … I know this is not the place to post this but a HUGE breaking story in baseball. Sounds like Ahole, Braun, and a bunch of others might be going down.

Rockies answered my tweet…

#RockiesTweet20 If we select Kris Bryant, do we plan to move him to first base to replace Helton in near future?
Colorado Rockies
@Rockies
.@ITRrockymtnhigh Player Development, FO staff would give him PT needed to make that decision. Hes athletic enough to play diff positions.

I would move him around a bit, with a definate focus on 1B.

Pretty sure Helton will be gone before Arenado is.

Kyle Parker’s arm probably makes him a strong RF…though that’s a stereotype on my part.

At 6′, 5″ and already well over 200lbs I doubt Bryant would make much of an OF.
