One Swing Decides Game in Bax Favor, 5-3

Tyler Matzek issued a walk in the second inning which led to a 3-run homer by Rox Killer Miguel Montero.  As their custom is these days, the offense did not show up on the road.  The only run was a no-doubter by Fort McKenry.  CarGo has been given a new nickname, “The Berlin Wall”.  All he has done is act like a big deadweight splitting the middle of the lineup which explained why the offense could not get into any sort of a rhythm.  D.J. LeMahieu can also be considered a deadweight as a hitter on the road.  A season long problem is striking out more often than producing hits when they play away from Coors Field.

Home plate umpire Manny Gonzalez gave the Matzek and the Rockies a huge break in the fifth inning.  With one out Matzek walked the bases full when former Rocky Jordan Pacheco checked his swing and the ball rolled off his shin into the infield.  Pacheco remained in the batter’s box while the defense completed a 6-5-3 double play to end the inning and kept the score close at 3-1.

RMH, that’s right there with the famous Frankie Morales wild pitch on a pitchout …

Very impressive, doing the post-game summary, before the game is over. Our Rockies, the outcome is seldom in doubt these days.

But RocketMan, look how they “battled back” in the 9th to “make it interesting” (Drew Goodman’s words). There’s fight in (a few of) these Rockies!
