#1 pet peeve…throwing a strike on an 0-2 pitch!##$@%$ Are you kidding me Juan????
Should he throw outside? Get him to chase?
Jared, Nicasio has been burned on several occasions this year by giving hitters fastballs in the zone on 0-2 counts. Folks have blamed Rosario, but obviously it’s on Juan. Folks have also been urging Weiss to play Rosario at 1B. Well, now they are due to Yorvit’s injury, and I gotta deliver this shocking news: playing Rosario at 1B with Pacheco at C is really just like playing Pacheco at 1B with Rosario at C! Funny how that works. Neither… Read more »
It’s like they knew what was coming…90MPH fastball or 83MPH curve…right down the middle. H had just muttered, “the team has to know that the closer will come in and close the door.” Oops, Raffy is no “it’s over” closer. Neither is Brothers. We have mediocre closers on a mediocre team.(And a very mediocre pitch selection catcher in at the time.) This is the team we had at the beginning of the season and this is the team we will… Read more »
In other words, just another DoD season.
I guess I expected more. But it’s the same old, same old. I presume that the Rockies, like most teams, put a number of veterans on waivers and see if anyone bites. After last night Raffy was at premium value. Not as a closer but as a late inning set-up guy. Now his value is down. I actually think Brothers can be a good closer. Just throw heat. The old saw in baseball was never make the first or the… Read more »
Bill, absolutely right. That Cuddy 3rd out at 3B could have been the insurance run we needed. Really dumb going for the extra base there when you still need a base hit to score even if you make it. (yeah, wild pitch, etc., but really, that’s not too likely) I do like Pacheco catching. The limited time we’ve seen him as a catcher he’s looked o.k. And he’ll hit better than he has this year. I think he could be… Read more »
Bad teams find a way to lose games like last night’s. Good teams in contention find a way to win.
I wonder how many games we’ve lost this year with a quality start?
I’d be willing to bet $20 it is 15 or more.
Bad teams find a way to lose games like yesterday and mediocre teams find ways to find a way to win, example: Phillies.
