Phillies Visit Coors Field for 3-Game Set

The Rockies attempt to maximize their Coors Field advantage to compensate for their 4-7 road record.  They are currently 4-2 at Coors Field. While going 3-4 on a recent road trip, the Rockies batted just .217 with RISP.  Of course, they’re a different team at Coors Field, where they’re batting .356 in such scenarios so far this season.  Philadelphia Phillies will turn to their own version of patchwork rotation starting with Jonathon Pettibone who is filling in for Cole Hamels tonight.  The Rockies will be happy to miss Cliff Lee’s turn as the hitters tend to sputter vs. top-tier LH starters (Quintana, Miley, Bumgarner).  Kyle Kendrick and Roberto Hernandez will take their turns on Saturday and Sunday respectively.  Tyler Chatwood, Jordan Lyles, and Juan Nicasio will ply their craft this weekend.

Why Stubbs vs. the RH instead of Dickerson? The FO continually force feeding us Stubbs to justify their acquisition of him. The hell with trying to win a ballgame.

We were discussing on another thread “causes for optimism” and several astute RWO members noted our near 500 record even though we’ve played 6 homes game to 11 road games. This made me wonder where we make up this imbalance. Well……..the combined June/July schedule nets us 32 home games to 21 away games (and 4 of the away games are at the Cubs). So if we can hang around 500 April and May, and get well (meaning get Chacin and… Read more »

I’m not sure if I should be optimistic about how close we were from being 11-6 rather than 8-9 or be pessimistic that we’re going to consistently lose games we could have won with better management or clutch hitting or pitching. Seriously, we could have at least 3 or 4 more wins right now and thats pissing me off.

This team has managed to be near .500 with the off-balance schedule, but also having faced a large number of good pitchers and alas the Rockie killers, soft tossing lefties. Things get a bit more balanced this weekend. First off, Cole Hamels is still on the DL. The Rockies are 2-3 against him with a 3.40 ERA. Wish we missed him in Phili, but missing period is good. Then we get to miss the terrible two of Cliff Lee and… Read more »
