Many here on RWO have wondered how the last game against the Milwaukee Brewers would shake out, lineup wise. Well, it looks like Walt Weiss, the Rockies manager, is (sadly) taking a page from the Book of Tracy when it comes to lineups the day before a break in schedule: sit your starters in favor of your bench.
The lineup consists of EYj coming in for Cuddyer, Pacheco in for Helton and Brignac in for Nelson.
Nicasio will make his first appearance of the 2013 season for the rubber match.

Not gonna lie, i’m not happy about this lineup. It points to Weiss making the same exact mistakes Tracy made – he is messing with the starters by not letting them get into rhythm…don’t like it at all…
ugh ugh ugh – that is a spring training lineup. What did Weiss call Tracy in for a rest as well? I get two of these, but three? And against a kid that they have not seen before. And Nelson had one of his better games yesterday. I am guessing there is some of the issue that Nicasio is shooting for a huge 1.7 to 1 GO/FO ratio, so you put in Brigniac at 3rd but then you want a… Read more »
Yeah, i don’t understand it at all…it is only the third game of the season and i understand sitting Todd with the long flight, but i don’t understand Cuddy or Nelson – both had GREAT games yesterday, so let them get out there and continue to ride the wave…why stop progression? Jordan in for Todd is ok, but i’m still not sold on Brignac, never have been…
You have to wonder if this is coming from Geivett/DOD. Part of their mantra of players needing more rest due to the altitude.
Go get em EY Jr!!!!
Putting EYJ in for Cuddyer is fine with me. C is aging, after all. Brignac for Nelson makes no sense whatever. Giving up an at bat every 9th guy. If the sub 3rd baseman is to play every 3rd day, we should have kept Arenado up to do that.
Not often we get an answer to a Denver Post poll that quick. This morning’s question was “Will the Rockies sport a record above the .500 mark at any point during this season?”
Heading home with a winning record. Wish I was in Denver on Friday!
2-1 is way better than we thought that they’d start. It’s a good start to the season.
