We are going to try a new news format starting tonight. I will write a brief pre-game post with the photo. I’m going to junk the lineup photo and use a photo related to the Rockies or opponent. Then we can comment on today’s game here and after the game I (or anybody who wants to) can write the summary of the game in a paragraph in the comment box(es).
Sorry I was late today with the post cuz I thought the game was at 6:15 MDT but it actually started at 5:15 MDT. I turned on the TV set and the Rockies were down 3-0 and now it is tied at 4-4 in a matchup of the staff aces. (Gray vs. Wacha)
At my count, 3 BBs and 1 HBP all scored which is four of seven runs that was gifted to the Cards by Jon Gray. Cardinal Sin.
Ha……lets just pretend I didn’t make the “Gray vs Wacha battle of the aces” comment in a previous thread. I missed that one by about a mile!
When you play the Cardinals, you must be tied or ahead in the seventh inning. Else game over with their bullpen as good as they are. Is their bullpen the best in the majors? Seems like it to me. But I do know they have a record of something like 80-0 when leading after eight innings in the last two years. Tonight is just as good a time as any to waste Gopherg and send him away when Motte returns.… Read more »
GOPHERG!!!! Thank you, you have given the front office a very good reason to cut the cord. DFA, not ABQ. He issues too many BBs and HBPs which goes against the new pitching template of the Rockies.
RMH, it amazes me that Gopherg is in the big leagues. In theory he has good stuff, but does any big league pitcher hang a higher percentage of sliders/curves than Gopherg? Carpenter hit one out on about the 5th really bad hanger Gopherg threw. Meanwhile … post-game, Cory Sullivan all worried about potentially losing Christian Bergman to a pulled oblique. “He really fits in well in that role.” Yeah, where will we ever find a guy like him? Oh, maybe… Read more »
I’d like to see Eddie Butler move immediately into Bergman’s role, Motte into Gophberg’s, and call up one of the young guys for Butler’s SP slot (Hoffman or Marquez). Just my 2 cents.
All sorts of news! Bergman DL Oberg ABQ Lyles UP M Castro UP Didn’t see the Lyles move coming. Leads to a question from me. Will Lyles be the long man? Or will he resume starting and Butler moved to the long role (I like the idea of Butler in the long role…..haven’t formed an opinion on Lyles in the long role because I haven’t even considered it). Of course Rusin’s role might also be switched around as well. This… Read more »
I’d be more excited with McGee/Castro/Estevez than Betances/Miller/Chapman. (Note that I have McGee in 7th and Estevez in 9th).
