The Yard Goat photo was featured as it is a very pleasant picture to look at; there was nothing to talk about the Giants and Reds series at home when the Rockies lost five of the seven games in the latest home stand. I tweeted to the @GoYardGoats to promote the entire team to Denver. They replied, “NO!” They are doing very well getting consistent offense and quality pitching. Harrison Musgrave was recently moved from Hartford to Albuquerque. Parker French with his ultra-low BB/9 rate was already moved to A+ Modesto.
I don’t dare to talk about the game tonight. Colorado played uninspired baseball and looked like zombies. It is time to pull the plug on Walt Weiss. The young players need someone with a fiery passion to jump start the team.
I hope we can spend time writing on this thread about the upcoming draft and the minor league teams. Tonight’s game starts at 8:10 MDT.
Jose Reyes – HR for Albuquerque in the early going tonight. Hoffman (from the gameday) doesn’t appear to be particularly sharp. Meanwhile, Antonia “All He Does is Win” Senzatela wins … again (7 IP, 1 run). Parker French is showing some adjustment issues in Hi A, which is to be expected for a guy who was a little old for Asheville and a little too dependent on fine control, which is not to say I’m down on him (he’s the… Read more »
BEFORE the HR Matt Kemp just hit, he was batting .444 against Rockies pitchers this year with a ridiculous 1.370 OPS. And this is a player who pretty much sucks vs. the rest of MLB. I am done with Chris Rusin. With this team collapsing as usual (hey, they held on till the last week of May this year; that’s pretty good for us!), I do not need to see Chris Rusin in a Rockies uniform ever again. And I… Read more »
Arenado in a rage, doing everything but the RMH “throw all the dugout equipment on the field” thing. And he has plenty to be pissed about: (1) idiot Rusin throws away a double play ball; (2) idiot Hundley starts off Kemp with a fastball; (3) replacement level Rusin grooves 89 mph fastball right down the middle to Rockies killer Kemp; (4) “Low Energy” Walt takes it all in stride, seems to have zero emotional investment in this sorry club. It… Read more »
I watched the replay several times and Walt is wandering around the blow up without saying a word or intervening.I wondered if they started throwing punches would he care or react.Agreed-time for him to go NOW!
Rockies lack of interest posterized by Upton. If I was Arenado I put that poster in everybody’s locker including WW”s.
Didn’t this happen last year too? Remember the famous steal of home on the catcher’s throw toss back to the pitcher? And if I’m not mistaken, that was Hundley too. Rusin, Hundley, Arenado, Story — no one is innocent here. That steal of home just can’t happen, particularly with a pitcher (Pomeranz) at the plate where there should be every expectation of them putting on a squeeze bunt. Embarrassing baseball. Walt needs to go. Now.
It wasn’t Hundley. It was the back up catcher who always lollypop back to pitcher. Rosario?
Can’t wait until we dismiss Hundley at end of year. What in the world was he doing diving 3 feet off the plate on third base side? Catch pitch, sit down on the plate like a mother goose and no way he swims around the tag. Plenty of time basedan on my review of the replay.
We’re both wrong — last year’s ECBF (Epic Catcher Brain Fart) was McKenry. At least in theory Hundley should have a little trade value. Move him now. I’d rather watch Wolters to see if he develops, then Murphy join him at the ASB. Really, how does that steal of home happen? Don’t get me wrong, I give Melvin credit for an aggressive play and great slide in a game situation where aggressiveness was called for (pay attention, Mr. Parra). Good… Read more »
The Wolters/Murphy pairing thought has occurred to me several times.
And it wouldn’t be complete without a TOOTBLAN, this time Story trying to steal (down 4-0) and sliding past the bag. And does anyone know why Parra is playing vs. a lefty? He’s tried to bunt for a hit twice in a row, indicating that even he knows he can’t hit Pomeranz. Pop quiz: what did we get for Pomeranz?
About as lackluster a performance as you’ll ever see. How’s that “weak part of the schedule” thing going, Rockies?
Pomerance and Freidrich proving you can’t pitch at COORS.Both loving SD.Lets try moving the fences way in but making them all as high as the “green monster”[see thru of course].
Boy……and I thought the Copa America match was bad. Sorry I missed all the excitement!
We’ve all been saying WW must go for some time. If he does, the following must occur:
1. Go outside the Organization.
2. Allow the new Manager to assemble his Staff.
3. Get someone with real (not small, private HS) Managerial experience.
4. Target a “rebuild” friendly type Manager (I.e, – not a Dusty Baker type).
Here’s a link to slightly data article (pre-2015 season) with some good Managerial candidates:

I’m definitely a fan of the last three on this list.
Being 2-hit by Pomeranz (7 innings, 2 BB, 8 K) was bad enough without the various mental errors and resulting dugout Nolan blowup. People who say Pomeranz would never have succeeded at Coors may be right. MAY be right. I’m not willing to concede that. We flipped him for approximately 5 starts of Brett Anderson at about $10 million for that season — another one of those desperation moves that was a product of the idiotic Monfort/O’Dowd reasoning that we… Read more »
Ag….it seems to me that we suffer from Bullpenaphobia. If we have a young player labeled as a “SP,” then by God he’s going to be a SP and the thought of throwing the player in the Pen is pure blasphemy. I maintain to this day Jon Gray could have gotten more experience had he been brought him up in the Pen as an introduction to the bigs. We’ll cross the same bridge with Hoffman this year. He’s on an… Read more »
Where’s the thumb up icon? Thumb up for every comment in this thread other than myself.
Our boy Bridich is going to be a busy man. As I see it, here’s his near term agenda: 1. Amateur Draft this coming weekend (beginning Thursday). 2. Get rid of Jose Reyes sometime in the next 10 days. 3. Start the behind the scenes process of hiring a new Manager for the Rox. Too bad he doesn’t have some Front Office help. Snagging someone like Alex Anthoupolis this past off-season would probably look like a really good move right… Read more »
I’m the biggest fan of this boring pitcher, none other than Jack Wynkoop. Did his usual work last night: Jack Wynkoop, 7 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 86 pitches, 63 strikes.
I’m watching draft rumors and I’m projecting Rockies pick Kyle Lewis, Mickey Moniak, or Riley Pint. I’ll be happy with any of them unless Puk is unexpectedly available. It is getting obvious that Puk is going 1 or 2.
