JD, you need any assistance for the weekend? Let me know if so. Can’t promise pulitzer winning stuff, but let me know if i can make it easier on you…

cargo and tulo take 5 fastballs and 1 curve without swinging the bat…pathetic cards use a single-walk-single with two outs for a run… hmmm…pattern developing during the last 10-15 games? how is it possible that our best hitters take 6 strikes without taking the bat off their shoulders? I’m beginning to get a vibe here and it’s not good one…please, please rox, don’t regress into last years team, please. still holding on to my team evaluation until 50 games have… Read more »

Ed, feels like to me its slipping into bad habits when we start struggling. Gotta listen to what the coaches are preaching (assuming that’s the correct way to begin with-I’m safe with that assumption).

it happened again…i’m not watching anymore…following on mlb at bat…

cargo and tulo protesting arenado’s excessive adulation?

i’m just kidding on that one.

I’ve seen this pattern before of cargo and Tulo taking a step backward when a younger guy plays well.:,

Miller is really good but … we went through a collective hitting slump like this last year. Remember? It was the beginning of the end. Time for people to stop saying the Rockies are one of the best offensive clubs in baseball? They’re not. And that’s a fact.

i’ve said it to my friends here and in Greeley and Coors Field. “Smoke and mirrors” fellas and gals, “smoke and mirrors”.

ayg is right on the money, as usual…i’ve got a very bad feeling about this team

Ed,used the same phrase in an e-mail to my kids.Great start, but most of us were saying we’d be happy with a .500 team back in ST.

Pre-season: Shelby Miller was the consensus pick for SECOND best prospect in the Cards organization. OF Oscar Taveras was first. And Trevor Rosenthal, currently blowing hitters away in the Cards bullpen, was third. A fantastic line of prospects coming up. That’s why we shouldn’t automatically say no if they come calling for Tulo …

Yeah this really feels like the beginning of the end for the Rox. The TB and NYY series in Denver was really demoralizing and man they look so so so so outmatched tonight. I haven’t even watched much of the game cuz after the top of the 1st I just had a bad feeling. Long way to go still, but my optimism is really starting to fade.

I don’t like the hitting slump either, guys, but I’m gonna file this one under Gotta Tip Yer Cap to the young pitcher. Holy cow.

Yeah, their prospects can beat up our prospects, but still:

Pomeranz tonight: 6.1 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 K. Another good start. Look for him very soon.

But you know what hurts? 2009 we took Tyler Matzek with the 10th pick. The Cards got Shelby Miller 9 picks later …

Wouldn’t have mattered Ag, the Rox player development coaches would have screwed him up too.

BINGO!!! I’ve stated it before and I will state it again. If I was an up and coming pitcher the Rockies organization would NOT be my organization of choice.

As I’ve posted before, I’m boycotting this team until June 1st. If they are at or over .500 on that date, I’ll start heading back to Coors. Considering how this team started, I was already making plans for the Dodgers series in early June. I guess I’ll hold off on those plans. It’s why you don’t draw any hard conclusions on a team until a third of the season has elapsed. This is a stupid organization, from the top brass… Read more »

OK, Cisco – Rockies are 19-16, and here’s what’s left in May, and most likely result: 2 more in StL (0-2) 3 at the Cubs (2-1 … Cubs at home, but they’re bad) 4 vs. Giants at Coors (2-2 … giving the Rox the home field advantage) 3 vs. Dbacks at Coors (2-1, same) 3 at Giants (0-3 … I’d love to say 1-2, but really …) 4 at Astros (3-1 … they are heading for historic awfulness…if we can’t… Read more »

We have gotten carried away with fast start. This team has to hit-remember the mantra from years past-“this team will hit”,”this team will hit”.Well we hit our way to last place. The sad thing is the pitching has been superb! Losing games while only giving up 3 runs is getting old.Plus I miss the Tacos!

Really hurts when the pitching has been so good at home. To lose a low scoring game at Coors is even more painful as the Rox usually score a ton of runs there. Road games have always been tough on the Rox offense and always will, the ball just moves so much more on the road compared to home. Agbayani, I like your enthusiasm for the rest of the month but it will be hard for the Rox to go… Read more »

Somebody please explain how a team can hit like crazy for several weeks and then just dry up. Seriously. It drives me nuts! Ed, is the smoke and mirrors another term for dumb luck? Or what? HOW DO THEY DO IT AND THEN STOP DOING IT?!? However: who thunk we’d be seeing good pitching? Be a few games over .500? Yes, old dreaded patterns are making us skittish, but before the season wouldn’t we have been pleasantly surprised at the… Read more »

Just for some perspective, here’s how we stand as a team: Hitting: park-adjusted 3rd best in the NL. Much better than I expected, but falling back a bit. My honest assessment: this is a good hitting team, but things are a bit inflated by really hot starts by several guys (Rosario/Fowler/Cuddyer) Fielding: 8th best in the NL (using UZR), middle of the pack. Much improved, and I think it’ll get better if Arenado and Helton — and I guess I… Read more »
