Game is available nationally: ROOT Sports within the Rockies market area, MLB Network (on a 1 hour delay because it follows the Braves/Mets game) outside the Rockies market area. As noted also available on your computer via MLB.tv for those with a subscription.

2 weeks in and the pitching is already shot to hell.

ProgMatinee beat me to it. I know its early, but so far the Rockies pitching appears to be quite substandard. Only Francis and Volstad appear like they want to be /are able to be in the rotation. Maybe Rosenbaum also.

Nicasio was the only expected OD roster pitcher today. Can’t say pitching is shot to hell if the Mariners kept most of the OD starters until 6th or 7th inning teeing off on the non roster pitchers.

Not restricted to this game by any means. Last several games have seen certain pitchers get blasted.

RMH, good point, although Ottavino will almost certainly head north with the club too, and he apparently didn’t look so good today either. Things I’ll be fast-forwarding to when I watch it tonight: — Arenado’s plate appearances: 4 HRs already. Everyone says he won’t be called up until mid-June at the earliest to delay his arbitration clock, but one good thing I can say about the Rockies is this: when a guy is obviously ready, they don’t always play that… Read more »

Thanks again for the updates guys. Here’s a scenario to ponder (and not that far-fetched in my mind): 1. Rox suck in 2K13. 2. Cardinals kick ass – in season long battle with Reds for the NL Central. 3. Rafael Furcal doesn’t play a single game. 4. Pete Kozma is exposed as an average at best ML SS. 5. Cards shop for big time SS at deadline, and have the deepest farm in the ML. You guys can do the… Read more »

If indeed Tulo does end up in STL, does that make the Rox the AAAA affiliate of the Cardinals? We groom superstars for them, and when the time is right they call them up and go to the WS with them (Walker, Holliday).

SD, I love your number 2. This year I can honestly say I will probably see more live games from Busch (although about 900 miles away) then from Coors (although 100 miles away). That said, I hope your #5 turns out to be true and I’ll bet Tulo does to. Why would you want to spend your prime playing for a owner who is not a baseball guy and therefore can’t field a competitive team year after year?

I was in Peoria for the Rox demolition derby yesterday and sat in row 3 right behind the dugout. Very good spot to watch the game close up. I can tell you that Nolan Arenado walks up to the plate with a lot of swagger. It doesn’t matter if you are a Justin Verlander or a journeyman pitcher, NoDo has a plan and owns the pitcher. He swings at the pitches as if the pitches are coming in slow motion.… Read more »

RMH, thanks for the game reports! I like your take on Arenado. There is something about seeing a young player in person, watching the action live, including how the player handles himself when the cameras aren’t on him — positioning, hanging out around the dugout and in BP, etc. I remember thinking exactly the same things you say about Arenado when I spent a week around Hi Corbett in Tucson back in 2009 watching Dexter Fowler. He just looked comfortable… Read more »

Wanted to watch the game but life got in the way. Couple of things from what I have read and saw on highlights: 1) Nicasio should go out and just pitch sliders and change-ups. As many have pointed out Randy Johnson won 300 games by only having two pitches – a fastball and slider (his K pitch). If Nicasio can throw the slider for stikes with bite (or the change-up), he can be a very good starter. Otherwise, make him… Read more »

Numerous media outlets are reporting Bruce Rondon is finally making the Tigers nervous and they beginning to make a push for a Closer via the trade Market.

Betancourt for Porcello?

(Can you guys tell my dream is to be a GM!)
