The Rockies will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks today at SRF. The Diamondbacks had Miley slated to pitch, but it looks like Collmenter will pitch. Miley is scratched due to, “dead arm”.

Chatwood will start for the Rockies with the following lineup slated:

FOWLER (CF)
DICKERSON (LF)
COLVING (RF)
ROSARIO (C)

Starting to see those guys we will see start the season. Interested to see how Chatwood pitches. He is part of the resurrection brigade (trying to re-start their careers). This guy held his own as a rookie with the Angels as a starter. I want to forget last season. He looks good at times but…has yet to prove he can stay as a starter or even a middle man (he does not seem to respond well out of the pen).… Read more »

Which games are you looking to follow? The spring training MLB games or are you asking about the MiLB games? I’m not sure what you are referring to, since this post is about guys going down to the minors…

The MLB games are on rockies.com, as well as MLBtv. You can an app on your phone/tablet to listen to or watch the games…

It is also pretty cheap to get the MiLB package to watch the minor leagues stuff…

Thanks for telling me that. Could actually tell that Dex had homered when it happened!

Opening day is getting closer!

I like that creative spelling for Colvin. Here’s to “Colving” up the Dback pitchers today. 🙂

Chatwood 4 IP, 1 BB, 1 ER so far. Can he go one inning further than Francis?

Looks (on paper, which I guess means actually, reads?) like Chatwood had a nice little outing – faced 10 batters 8 groundouts and 2Ks, and at least according to MLB.com 23 pitches, 19 strikes. That is economical and exactly what he will need to succeed at Coors. Cannot find his GB to FB stats from last two years, but it seems he is buying in on the strategy they are pushing. If the 3B defense is fixed, putting the ball… Read more »

Quick Follow-up question. The rotation: Chacin (lets hope that toe heals quickly because he looked bad last start here and WBC) DLR Francis Pomeranz Have not heard anything about when Friedrich pitches for the first time. Is the back better? In that vein, has anyone heard anything more about a trade for Nieman. I was against that trade if it involved Friedrich (why give up talent that has not yet maxed out, especially pitching), but looked at Niemann’s stats (he… Read more »

Keep in mind Jeff only pitched about 40 innings last season and while his stats look reasonable many arguments among the metrics guys back home on whether or not his stats are even valid for last season. Too small of a sampling.

The Rays are pretty darn good in the pitching department and if there is some alleged “health” concern then I would hope the Rockies take that into consideration.

Sorry, one other note. My guess is Niemann is absolutely still available. The Rays pretty much have their rotation set and it appears Roberto Hernandez, has beaten him out and will be the #4 guy in the rotation.
