Nicasio had an excellent outing today, other than a couple of solo shots. He pitched 5 2/3 innings, only giving up four hits and striking out six! EYj started off the game today with a triple to center helping his cause for fourth outfielder. Tulo was a perfect 3 for 3, all singles. Wilin keeps making it hard for Tracy to send him down, going 2 for 5 as a DH…
=========== PRE-GAME ==================
Tulo is back in the line-up after being rested with a bruised heel, today against the Cleveland Indians. Nicasio will be on the mound in his second to last start before the regular season kicks off. His focus, according to Patric Saunders’ interview, will be on his slider:
I want to throw the slider with better downward movement … I want it to fall out of the strike zone and surprise batters.
Nicasio will be backed up by the following pooter approved players:
CF Eric Young Jr.
2B Marco Scutaro
DH Wilin Rosario
SS Troy Tulowitzki
C Ramon Hernandez
3B Chris Nelson
RF Tyler Colvin
1B Brandon Wood
LF Brian Rike
RHP Juan Nicasio
was going to chat today but just found out police surrounding my kids school…aparently there is a manhunt right near the school, so i’ll be quite busy (don’t think anyone is in any danger)…
Hope all is well!!
Scary. Take care.
Hope the school kids are alright. Thought it was interesting that Fowler is out again and playing in a minor league game. It is pretty much impossible for me to trust that he will ever be the player everyone thought he would be. Problem with EY 2 is that he is possibly the worst fielder on the team so you can’t play him in CF. Don’t want to move Cargo, or Cuddy, there, so it pretty much leaves Colvin as… Read more »
I read yesterday Dex would be playing in AAA games today to allow him to get additional at bats. It’s not to be considered a demotion or anything of that nature. Wondering if anyone is aware how he did. I agree with all others in that Dex will be the starter come opening day. Although concerned, I’m confident Dex will get the timing of his swing down soon. Hopefully before the start of the season. I hear he’s been swinging… Read more »
why does EY2 continue to come up with some hits (triple leading off today and scored on SF by Scuturo). I agree Rob, while he continues to show some bat control, the defensive downfall when he is in concerns me every time there is a hit to him (not to mention his lack of any arm strength). BUT, in all fairness to him , he is performing better than Dex in ST. Which I think is moot as Dex will… Read more »
EY2 is a good leadoff hitter unlike Fowler so he will most likely make things happen to start a game. Everyone is saying his defense is much improved so we might have to move on from that subject (bad defense). Fowler will definately start the season as the center fielder, however, EY2 will make the team and eventually win the spot from Fowler. At least that is what my crystal ball says.
take the cover off that ball Pooter ; )
he makes things happen IF he gets on, grant him that. Improved defense doesn’t mean good defense. He had a long way to go. Heck, if you could cover the Coors outfield and hit, I’d jump on your bandwagon!
Go ROX..good outing by Nacasio,Tulo and Rosario.
5 strikes by Nicasio, side out . . . ! love it
you are right on roxnsox…now he is showing 13 pitches, 13 strikes….
Go Rox!
me and my big mouth….next guy up jacks one…2-1 Rox bottom of 3
2 homers sandwich a walk (and a caught stealing), another walk…. don’t love it… keep your cool, Juan!
errrr…another strikeout looking, not a walk :))
All is well at my kids school. I’ll update in a bit. Crazy situation.
good to hear jared.
like nicasio’s line right now. I can live with a couple solo HRs. Those strike outs are nice.
Here are the three idiots that freaked us out today and caused the lockdown at our kids school…they caught the third guy a block away from my house and a block from the school and what makes me mad is they didn’t keep the school on lock-down even though the guy was still missing!!! What the freak!!! I was at the school by then, watching over my 2 kids with my wife, and I didn’t see a single officer anywhere… Read more »
